Found February 07, 2013 on NESN.com:
Boston and Los Angeles are not only the two most storied franchises in NBA history, but there’s a lot of history between the two teams, as well. Unfortunately, despite big expectations neither team’s season has gone according to plan so far. Both L.A. and Boston come into Thursday night’s game streaking a little bit. After winning six in a row, then losing six in a row in January, the Celtics are hot once again, having won five in a row. The Lakers, meanwhile, have won five of their last six since losing 10 of their previous 12 games. That being said, neither team is in an enviable position heading into the All-Star break. While the Lakers and Celtics might look to be on the upswing, injuries may prevent both teams from reaching their potential. For Boston All-Star point guard Rajon Rondo and rookie wonder Jared Sullinger are out for the season, while the Lakers will be missing big men Dwight Howard and Pau Gasol for Thursday night and the foreseeable future. Likewise, both teams ca...

Steve Bullpett: Bryant admires C's

After the Celtics' dismantling of the Los Angeles Lakers last night, Kobe Bryant spoke with the media about his rival team in Green. He gave the Celtics a ton a respect and continued praise, wishing his team would buckle down and play a similar way. The C's are now 6-0 without Rajon Rondo (26-23 on the season)  and Byant had this to say about Boston in an excerpt from Bullpett...

Dwight Howard Says Kobe Bryant Isn’t a Doctor, Doesn’t Care if He’s Pissed Off

The Lakers are an entertaining bunch. Dwight Howard vs. Kobe Bryant is the closest we will get to Pacquiao vs. Mayweather. Kobe essentially said Dwight is a sensitive clown who needs to play hurt. Here was Dwight reply to that courtesy of Pro Basketball Talk. “That’s his opinion. That’s it. He’s not a doctor, I’m not a doctor.”’ “”I want to play, I mean, why wouldn’t...

Dwight Howard: “I’m not a crybaby”

Perhaps, Dwight Howard hadn’t pictured his first season as a Los Angeles Laker quite like this; riddled with injuries, lacking a consistent effort, and just a semblance of his former self. Certainly not what he imagined; this season has been a struggle for the big man and he doesn’t want a repeat of Dwightmare, which is [...]The post Dwight Howard: “I’m not a crybaby”...

Celtics: better is than better does without Rondo

Keeping the Celtics as a contending team is a daunting prospect with all their injury concerns and the continual conversation of are they better without Rondo.  Last night's game provided the proof that this team is mediocre at best. The Toronto Raptors led by new leader, Rudy Gay gave a spirited effort and Boston played down to their expectations. It was very hard to tell...

Zach Lowe: Boston the same with or without Rondo

In a recent Grantland article, NBA writer Zach Lowe lays out Rajon Rondo’s impact on the Celtics and what their recent success says, if anything. Boston projects as the same team without Rondo that it was with him — a defensive juggernaut that will win games when its offense does just enough to allow its defense to carry the Celtics across the line. How often they can find the...

2nd-half rally lifts Lakers over 'Cats

Kobe Bryant shrugged off a scoreless first half to finish with 20 points, eight assists and seven rebounds Friday night as the Los Angeles Lakers overcame a 20-point second-half deficit and beat the Charlotte Bobcats, 100-93. The Lakers avoided a costly defeat to the NBA's worst team and pulled within three games of .500. Bryant attempted only two shots in the first half and...

Gino Time! Celtics 116, Lakers 95 as Celtics win sixth straight

I do not want to highlight one player in tonight’s win, as this was truly one of the Celtics best team efforts of the year.  In direct opposition to what I just said, the only player I do want to highlight is Kevin Garnett, who got his 25,000th point tonight with a fade-away jumper.  His response? Thanking all the people who helped him get there and finished with a “it’s...

Steve Nash shows off his Soccer skills

Los Angeles Lakers point guard Steve Nash grew up playing Soccer and was presented an opportunity to show off his skills against the Boston Celtics.  After being fouled by Avery Bradley in the third quarter, Nash dribbled the ball with his feet and didn’t let it touch the ground.Unfortunately for the Lakers, Soccer skills don’t help you win basketball games, and they lost to...

Steve Nash Shows Off His Soccer Skills, On The Basketball Court

Steve Nash is a noted soccer enthusiast, and is pretty damn good at the sport as well. On Thursday night as the Lakers were getting beat up by the Celtics Nashy showed off some of his skills for the folks in Boston. Pau Gasol Has Partial Tear Of Plantar Fascia, Out 6-8 Weeks

Bad news for the Lakers (23-26), who have won 6 of their last 7 games. After straining suffering a plantar fasciitis strain late in the fourth quarter of Tuesday night’s win in Brooklyn (Video), an MRI has revealed that forward, Pau Gasol, has a partial tear of his plantar fascia and is expected to miss six to eight weeks if he decides to rehab, or 10-12 weeks if he decides to...

After being called out by Kobe, Dwight Howard goes through shootaround, a "game time decision"

The official word on Dwight Howard's status tonight is that he went through the Lakers morning shootaround, and is a game time decision.  But, the situation is a lot more complicated than that.  In an interview with Jackie MacMullan yesterday, Kobe Bryant said the following about his teammate: "We don't have time for (Howard's shoulder) to heal. We need some...

Comments from the Other Side - Raptors 2/6

Good win for the Celtics. They pulled it out in the end. The Raptors fans are always active on their game threads. They complained about their own players a whole lot more than the Celtics though. I can never get used to fans wishing an injury on a player. It's just so wrong.  It's also amazing that probably half of the teams in the league hate their coaches.  My...

Kobe Bryant’s Explosive Dunk on Gerald Wallace (Video)

First and foremost let’s thank Blacksportsonline for that cool image. Then let’s turn our attention to one Kobe Bryant, who shows he can still dunk with the best of them from time to time.
