Wizards point guard John Wall will watch about the first month of the season from the bench after being diagnosed with the early stages of a stress injury to his left knee cap.
Wall just turned 22 last month figured his third season in the NBA would be the year he would show that he was fully worthy of being the No. 1 overall pick by the Wizards in 2010. It still might happen, but the launch has been postponed.
Washington's second-best player, Nene, has been idle as he deals with plantar fasciitis in his left foot. There's no certainty he'll be ready in time for the regular season opener against Cleveland on Oct. 30.
It's a tough start for the Wizards, who have missed the playoffs four straight years.
