The Daily Rival:
The Warriors may have raised a few eyebrows last week with their activity at the trade deadline, acquiring Andrew Bogut and Richard Jefferson in two separate deals. In the process, the team had to part ways with fan-favorite Monta Ellis. Obviously, the Warriors felt the dual-small-guard experiment had run its course. But that doesn’t mean Ellis was always the odd-man out. Warriors owner Joe Lacob on Friday spoke openly with SFGate.com about point guard Stephen Curry and how he could have been a victim of the trade deadline rather than Ellis.
“I’m getting chills talking about (Ellis) right now,” Lacob said. “He’s one of my favorite players in the NBA. Anyone who thinks otherwise is crazy. I feel very strongly about him. It was incredibly difficult to trade him, but he’s the piece it had to be to get Andrew Bogut. We would have traded either (Curry or Ellis) to take the next step for this franchise.”
Lacob also acknowledged that the team is open to shutting down the increasingly inju...

Golden State owner Joe Lacob was lustily booed by fans during a halftime ceremony honoring Warriors great Chris Mullin.
It's only been two games, but Monta Ellis and Ekpe Udoh have turned the already-hot Milwaukee Bucks into a dominant team.
Tuesday night in Portland, Ellis helped the Bucks cruise to another decisive road victory, beating the Trail Blazers, 116-87. That is the sixth straight win for Milwaukee, the longest streak in the NBA.
"We're 2-0 with them in the lineup, so we...
Golden State's Stephen Curry did not dress for Saturday night's game against Utah because of a sprained right ankle.
This will be the fourth straight missed game for Curry, who averages 14.7 points and 5.3 assists.
Al Jefferson of the Jazz is away from the team to attend his grandmother's funeral in Mississippi.
Jazz starting guard Raja Bell will also sit out with...
Newly minted Bucks guard Monta Ellis took out an ad in a Milwaukee paper telling fans how excited he is to be with the Bucks franchise. While I think it’s a nice sentiment. There were Golden State Warriors fans that supported him for the last 7 seasons in the Bay that I’m sure would’ve [...]
Can the Milwaukee Bucks expect to hold on to Monta Ellis long-term?The Milwaukee Bucks traded former franchise center Andrew Bogut and disgruntled (what’s new?) veteran shooting guard Stephen Jackson to the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday night. In return, they get explosive scorer Monta Ellis as their centerpiece player, not to mention forward Ekpe Udoh and mediocre...
I knew Monta Ellis was (and still is, apparently) a very popular figure in the Bay Area. I didn’t know he was so popular that fans would put a damper on Warrior legend Chris Mullin’s jersey retirement ceremony over his departure.
In a surprising turn of events, Warriors majority owner Joe Lacob was mercilessly booed as he took the microphone to say a few words just before...
The surging Milwaukee Bucks haven't experienced much success against the Portland Trail Blazers in recent seasons.
Newly acquired Monta Ellis could make all the difference.
The Bucks look to extend their winning streak to six for the first time in more than two years Tuesday night against the Trail Blazers, who try to continue their recent domination in this series as interim...
Stay classy Oakland fans. What a joke. California should be annexed from the country. Reason #18383772 is below.
Also reason 8 gazillion that Mullins is a sweet sweet dude, and Rick Barry is a jack wagon. Good **** here.
Welcome Monta Ellis and congrats on getting away from those idiots. Yes, we have 20 below weather and water street. But there fans are idiots.

Golden State Warriors fans were not happy that one of their favorite players, Monta Ellis, was traded away last week. They expressed their frustration last night by booing owner Joe Lacob at halftime of last night's game against the visiting Minnesota Timberwolves. Unfortunately, the fan's expressed their frustration at the expense of overshadowing the jersey retirement...
Silly of us to believe that Warriors fans would be happy to see Monta Ellis go and would be salivating at a future of a healthy Andrew Bogut and Stephen Curry. But we did.It wasn’t until we started to see Warriors fans chime in on Joe Lacob getting the silent treatment from fiancé that we began to realize that Warriors fans did not want Ellis traded. And just to drive the point...
