While the box score looks nice it doesn’t tell the whole story, the rookie was pretty sensational. He was the catalyst behind the Wizards  22-0 run in the second quarter and seemed to improve the play of his teammates when he was on the floor. WE’s to Watch/WE Spotlight Carmelo Anthony vs. Bradley Beal Melo was typical Melo scoring 17 points in only 20 minutes of action. The Wizards held him to 5 points after the half but he put the ball in the basket which is pretty much all he knows how to do. If I haven’t gushed enough about Beal for you here goes a little more. He is Ray Allen with a touch of Dwayne Wade. That’s not my analysis.. that one goes to Martell Webster. The Good The second unit, who outplayed the Knicks and the Wizards starters for that matter. Led by Bradley Beal, Martell Webster, and Chris Singleton, the second team looks like they’ll be members of the first team very soon. The BadThe Wizards three point defense. The Wiz allowed the Knicks to shoot 18-32. Most of the damage was done by Steve Novak aka The Accountant who went an insane 7-7 from three point range and finished with.... you guessed it 21 points. They couldn’t stop the guy from doing the ONE thing he does well. The rotations weren’t there all night. The UglyThe play of the Wizards starting lineup. Don’t let Jordan Crawford’s numbers fool you, they all struggled individually but really struggled as a unit. They were never in sync and had no continuity. We all know that this won’t be the starting lineup going into the season, it was a little disheartening to see how badly Price and Crawford played together. Hurry back John. Thoughts from the locker room Martell Webster is a great interview and after years of having players who gave an awful interview (cough JaVale, cough Andray, cough Nick). He was engaging, insightful and dispelled a lot of misconceptions about basketball players in general. He has the making of a coach, an idea he quickly shot down. It was quite refreshing to hear postgame comments that weren’t of the generic variety.
