Football football football football football football football football football football football. “You’re an Ohio State fan, and you’re not too worried about Saturday’s game. You know that Ohio State has not lost to an in-state team in 106 years and has never lost to a MAC team. You know that Miami has never beaten a Big Ten team not named Northwestern, Indiana or Purdue. You know that this game is practically already a win. And you’re probably right. But you don’t know Urban Meyer’s secret.

The RedHawks scare the hell out of him.” [Men of Scarlet and Gray

As much as I would love Mark Cuban to own the Tribe, I can’t see how a new owner will legitimately fix this until baseball changes their structural problems. “Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban took to Twitter late Thursday night to talk about the Republican Convention, Mitt Romney, the economy, and tax matters. But slipped into the barrage of tweets on non-sports issues was a quick response to an inquisitive Clevelander. The billionaire NBA owner was asked if he’d be willing to purchase the Cleveland Indians, and his response was short and sweet.” [Brendan Porath/SBNation Cleveland]

MOAR FOOTBALL!!! “Miami may have a good passing game, but they had one of the worst running games rated 120th overall in rushing yards last season. Whose name do you envision OSU PA announcer Bob Kennedy calling the most throughout the game: “(Name) on the tackle for a loss of 4 yards.”.

Ramzy: Ryan Shazier, or as Paul Keels will probably call him, “a Buckeye” or “number ten Corey Brown…check that, Ryan Shazier, the sophomore from [reads the rest of his media guide entry].”

Jeff: I hope it’s Johnny Simon. With the offseason accolades he’s been racking up, it would be great to see him get off to an amazing start.

Chris: I’ll take either Shazier or Barnett to lead the team in tackles for game one. [Eleven Warriors]

It’s that time of the baseball season… prospect watching. “The Cleveland Indians have not given their fans much to be excited about over the past month.  With 27 losses in their last 32 games, the Indians are 55-76 and will be in spoiler mode this September.

With a full slate of AL Central teams on the schedule, the final month does not appear that it will make the radar of a lot of the Tribe faithful. The one thing that could make things interesting is the annual September call ups and a certain injury comeback. Yes, a season that started with playoff aspirations has been reduced to a final month of prospect watching.” [Craig Gifford/Did the Tribe Win Last Night?]

I could totally see Gibson being dealt. “The Cavs deny that they are “shopping” Daniel Gibson, but more than a few team sources say their club has had some level of contact regarding Gibson throughout the summer. With draft pick Dion Waiters expected to join super sophomore Kyrie Irving in the Cavs backcourt there may not be much of a role for Gibson and several teams have tried to engage Cleveland on a deal. As things settle in and the rookies in Cleveland find their way Gibson and his ending contract are likely on the move.

Gibson is owed $4.7 million this season which is a fairly easy number cap wise and if the Cavs can extract a draft pick or a roster part they want, you can expect Gibson will be moved.” [Hoopsworld]
