Phil Jackson says he won because he had great players. While true, Phil Jackson was also a great coach. We saw how bad the Lakers became with Phil not on the sidelines. The Boston Celtics were terrible at basketball before Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen arrived in 2008. Even with Paul Pierce, they were horrendous. You know who was there at that time as well? Doc Rivers. But for some reason, the Los Angeles Clippers think he is the answer to get them over the hump. Along with an old KG. Talks are supposedly off, and right they should. It’s a dumb deal to trade for Rivers. Let alone all that the Clippers would have to give up. Danny Ainge knows it, that’s why he wants to get it done. He knows he that Rivers isn’t worth keeping around if he can get better talent. Rivers success as a basketball coach was limited prior to Kevin McHale gift-wrapping KG to his former team. His record in Boston was 102-144 pre-KG and Allen. Obviously, the Celtics would go on to win 66 games the following year, and win the NBA Title.
