The 2004 Yankees will tell you how easy it is for a playoff series to get away from you. I vividly remember the cover of the sports section of the NYTimes on the day of game 4 against the Red Sox and there were brooms all over it, as they approached a sweep. Just a few days later, the Yankees were eliminated by their long-time rival, and before they knew it, the curse of the Bambino was over. In Hockey, the Flyers and Canadiens accomplished this feat in the same Stanley Cup Playoffs in 2010, making them 2 of the 4 hockey teams who have come back from 3-0. Yet in the NBA no team has ever done it. Why not? Let’s look at this year’s Celtics as the example to understand why not: They lose both games in MSG and look like they have nothing left. (2-0 Knicks) Then they lose the first game at home, in an emotional atmosphere following the marathon bombing. (3-0) Now we’re up to game 4, and Boston (the city) just can’t lose this one and Boston (the team) knows that. So they fight a...

Russell Westbrook wears ‘Let’s Go Thunder’ T-shirt, cheers team on (Picture)

Russell Westbrook is stuck with the role of cheerleader for the Oklahoma City Thunder while he is out recovering from a knee injury. On Wednesday night, he was in attendance rooting for his teammates while wearing a “Let’s Go Thunder” shirt. Yes, THE Russell Westbrook. Many of you are probably thinking to yourselves, “So what?” Let us not forget that this is the same Westbrook...

Kid reporters interview several Knicks players

If you happen to be looking for hard-hitting interviews with New York Knicks players, then all you have to do is call on the Knicks kid reporters to get down to the nitty-gritty. Recently, the Knicks released two videos which star kid reporters Ryan and Jaylah asking some hard-hitting questions about player hairstyles and the goatee of head coach Mike Woodson: If I learned anything...

J.R. Smith Parties After Game 4 Loss With Lloyd Banks & French Montana

J.R. Smith may have been suspended from playing Game 4 in Boston – but that didn’t stop him from hitting up the New York club scene where he was spotted partying with rappers, Lloyd Banks and French Montana on Sunday (4/28) and Monday (4/29) night.   photos via What’s Poppin, Collective Entertainment Group

J.R. Smith apparently went clubbing before Game 5

J.R. Smith couldn’t make a shot last night… but he was apparently making a lot of them the night before… at a few NYC hotspots. However, it looks like Smith may have celebrated too hard the night before as pictures of Smith downing alcohol at a club have surfaced. Smith visited three clubs on Tuesday night, less than 24 hours prior to Game 5; a game the Celtics were NOT playing...

Less than three weeks removed from the Boston Marathon bombings, New York Knicks power forward Kenyon Martin disgraced the NBA by wearing black

Displeased head coach Mike Woodson addressed the Knicks for purposefully wearing black to mimic a funeral before Wednesday’s elimination contest against the Boston Celtics in New York. Making the second-seeded Knicks look like a fleet of bat caves, the Celtics beat New York 92-86 to extend the heated first-round series to a Game 6 tonight in Boston. Long considered a malignant...

Kevin Martin & Derek Fisher Take Rare Double Charge

We saw a rare thing during Thursday night’s Game 5 between the Thunder and Rockets. As Houston center Omer Asik drove to the basket, both Kevin Martin and Derek Fisher attempted to take the charge at the exact same time – a double charge. They were successful as the officials ruled it an offensive foul on Asik.

Knicks Win First Series Since 2000, Have Bigger Goals

The Knicks defeated the Celtics on Friday night, advancing to the second round of the playoffs for the first time since 2000. "Well, it's just another step," coach Mike Woodson said after the game. "It's a major step for this organization, for our fans in New York who've been with us for many years. The players that put in all the time this summer to get...

Kevin Durant On Intentional Foul Strategy: ‘Hack-A-Whatever His Name Is’

In the fourth quarter of the Rockets’ 107-100 Game 5 victory, the Thunder utilized a strategy of fouling the Omer Asik, a 52.7% career free throw shooter, intentionally in hopes of making a comeback. The strategy backfired as Asik made 7-of-12 and Kevin Durant seemed to have a hard time remembering the Rockets starting center’s name when asked about the fouls after the loss...

Knicks' coach Woodson says he didn't know about funeral stunt. Right.

Funny how things change after a loss. The Knicks arrived at Madison Square Garden for Game 5 dressed all in black to signify the funeral of the Celtics season. This was apparently news for Knicks coach Mike Woodson. From the Boston Globe: I didn’t know about it until this (Thursday) morning,” Woodson said. “I made reference to our guys that we need to stay out of the paper...

Royce White taunts Kevin Durant, Thunder over Twitter

Royce White is among the Houston Rockets fans feeling confident following the team’s stunning 107-100 win over the Thunder in Oklahoma City on Wednesday night that extended the playoff series to a sixth game. White, who was a first-round pick of the Rockets last year and played for the team’s D-League affiliate this season, sent tweets to the Thunder and Kevin Durant after the...

Recap: Grit and balls trumps Knicks clown talk

Is there anything better than watching somber Knicks fans walk out of Madison Square Garden on a night they hoped to win their 1st playoff series in 13 years? The Celtics scratched and clawed their way to a 92-86 win over New York in a game deemed the Celtics’ funeral by Kenyon Martin. Mr. Big Mouth played awfully small – 2 points, 2 rebounds and 5 fouls. The Knicks other yapper...

Russell Westbrook’s Top 10 Plays of the NBA Season

There is definitely something missing from this year’s NBA playoffs. As a fan, it’s hard to watch the postseason without the stars. Russell Westbrook’s injury has obviously left a gigantic void in the OKC Thunder’s game. To help us remember what we’ve been missing the NBA compiled Westbrook’s top 10 amazing plays of the NBA season. The takeaway from the video? Kid...

New York Knicks Game 6 All-Anxiety Preview

The New York Knicks game 5 loss to the Boston Celtics was an infuriating display for any fan of this team to suffer through. We haven’t had many infuriating moments in this Knicks season. Considering the slop of the decade prior, this 54 win year has been mostly a joy-ride to watch. Yet, Wednesday night and the aftermath has been insufferable. Tonight cannot get here quick enough...

Hack and Lose

Fear The Beard I don't mean to overreact to this, because it's just one first round playoff game between two teams that won't likely advance past the second round, due to injuries and inexperience. There's a very real chance that no one will think very much about this later, and that I'm just dealing with the ugly visual of a Game Five loss at home, in a series...
