The Los Angeles Lakers have far and away had the best off-season in the NBA so far and they still aren’t done. Adding Steve Nash will do to the Lakers in 2013 what Pau Gasol did for the Lakers in 2008. Only this time they know how to win and won’t have to suffer

through a finals beat down to become tougher. Antawn Jamison instantly strengthens what has been one of the worst benches in the NBA and adds another all star big man to the roster. Jamison will fill the role that Lamar Odom left behind when he forced his way out. Then the most underrated move of all this off0season was resigning Jordan Hill, who became extremely productive late in the season and is extremely active down low.
The West has no powerhouse team that can stop the Lakers from getting to the finals. Sure Oklahoma City is a great up and coming young team, but they are very beatable. The Lakers could have easily won their series with OKC last year if it was not for a few mental

breakdowns. Rest assured, Steve Nash will NOT let those mental lapses happen in the final minutes like Ramon Sessions did. In the final ticks who are you going to double? Obviously Kobe Bryant. So that leaves Steve Nash one on one and able to distribute or attack in 4 on 3 mode. Steve Nash will make this offense among the best in the league and expect the Lakers to get the number 1 seed out west this year. Being able to play in the friendly confines of the Staples Center instead of in Oklahoma City will be a huge difference.
Steve Nash is going to have an instant impact on the team. Not because of what he can do himself, but because of what he will do for Pau Gasol. Steve Nash is going to free up tons of space for Pau Gasol down low to get some post touches this year and some easy lay ups. No more will we see Pau standing out by the 3 point line jacked up treys. We will see Pau slicing through the lane catching passes from Nash and finishing at the rim or dishing to Bynum for dunks. The Lakers will be the real “Lob-City” this year. Steve Nash should also lighten the team up with his fun loving attitude. Has anyone seen the videos he has be posting since joining L.A? He should make basketball fun again for L.A rather than up tight, blowing late leads.
The Lakers big men are far and away the best in the NBA. Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol are an unmatched duo in the league. But now you have Antawn Jamison and a fiery Jordan Hill coming off the bench to sub for them. With less minutes needed for the starters should come health and being fresh entering the post season. Andrew Bynum is arguably the best center in the league. If I am the Lakers I

would absolutely not even dream of trading him! Sure Dwight Howard is great, but the man is coming off of back surgery and more importantly doesn’t even want to be in L.A. The Lakers have never been one to beg a player to join them and they should not start now. Give Bynum a nice extension and let him know that he is wanted in a big way. A happy Bynum is a good start to putting up title number 17 in the rafters.
Now beating Miami is going to be no easy task, but the Lakers can do it. Miami is going to get every teams best shot all year long and will probably end up the 2 seed out east yet again. So let’s assume that the Lakers have home court advantage over Miami. The Lakers are the only team in the NBA that can cause severe match up problems for the Miami Heat. Miami won;t have the Luxury of play Lebron

James and Chris Bosh down low against L.A. Lebron guarding Pau in the post and Bosh guarding Bynum? Miami is going to have to put Haslem and Bosh out on the floor just to be able to get a rebound. Now move out to the perimeter. Sure Dwayne Wade and Lebron are the best dup in the business, but Kobe and Nash is not to shabby. Add to the outside Metta World Peace (hopefully Ron Artest) and you have a got a pretty even match up. Nash should torch Mario Chalmers. Kobe has a slight advantage over Wade still, and Metta is the best in the league at slowing down Lebron. People seem to forget how good Metta was playing towards the end of the season last year.
Look for L.A to add another trophy to their collection this year and Kobe fans rejoice, he now has matched Michael Jordan. The Lakers will beat the Heat in 7 games and it will be one of the best NBA Finals matchups of all time. Look for the Lakers to keep adding to their bench with three point shooters before the season as well and you will see the best offense in the league. Mike Brown, congrats you finally got one and it only took Kobe and Steve Nash tag team coaching for you to get one.
