Posted in TextI’ve been getting a lot of tweets and emails from people who don’t understand the signing of Derrick Brown and are dumbfounded by the decisions to cut Kelenna Azubuike and Corey Brewer.
I can’t shed much light on either decision other than Brewer hasn’t developed into the offensive player that Minnesota had hoped when they drafted him 7th overall in 2007. Truth be told, it’s hard to throw the word “bust” around loosely, but Brewer appears to have the label.
Could the Knicks have used him as a “defensive” presence on the perimeter. I think so, but, as we know offense is priority one.
I like Derrick Brown, always have. I’m a fan of this move. If he can develop his jumper, physically, he has Wilson Chandler tools. He’s a strong kid with athleticism who can stretch out to the corner and get to the rim off the dribble along with being a strong defender who can guard 4s if he has to. Will he play? I have no ...
