A few weeks ago a few members of the Dallas Mavericks decided to do something. They wanted to help build unity; do something to bring the team together. So they started growing beards. Yes, Sports Fans—beards. It is not an uncommon tradition. Players across all sports and at all levels have been known to grow ‘playoff beards.’ The idea marries two common aspects important to the psych of every athlete, luck and success. Not in the case of the Mavericks. They are not refusing to shave because they are making a playoff push or because they are in the midst of a deep playoff run.
