The Washington Wizards waived Andray Blatche on Tuesday, designating him as the team's amnesty player. The 25-year-old forward averaged 9.9 points and 5.4 rebounds over seven seasons with the Wizards, who drafted him out of high school in the second round in 2005. The move enables the Wizards to remove the $23 million remaining on Blatche's contract from their salary cap after he failed to live up to expectations and dealt with a series of off-court incidents. ''Andray did not figure into our future plans, and using the amnesty provision is a mutually beneficial opportunity for us to part ways,'' Wizards team president Ernie Grunfeld said. Blatche was shot during a carjacking attempt in September 2005, was arrested in 2007 for soliciting sex from an undercover police officer and suspended for a game in December 2010 for brawling with teammate JaVale McGee outside a Washington nightclub. He also clashed with coaches. In January 2010, then-coach Flip Saund...

To bid him farewell the Post lists their favorite mostly embarrassing Andray “Ratchet” Blatche moments

This is a photo of Blatche in his natural habitat. Andray Blatche has some very embarrassing moments as a Washington Wizard and I know I’m not the only one that’s surprised he made it long enough to be let go this season. I thought Blatche would be sent packing out of Washington after he solicited a prostitute who just happened to be an off duty policy officer. But alas, finding...

Andray Blatche Has Been Amnestied, Which Means It’s The End Of A Memorable Era

For seven long seasons the Wizards waited for Andray Blatche, the teenager they drafted 49th overall in 2005, to develop.  Finally, they’ve given up.  Reports that DC residents are petitioning to make the 17th of July a federal holiday remain unconfirmed, but seem highly plausible. For those of you who never checked in on the NBA’s traveling circus that was the ’11/12 Washington...

Chris Singleton dunks on summer leaguer

Whether regular season or summer league action, everyone loves to see someone get dunked on, like how the Washington Wizards Chris Singleton smashes on Chris Daniels from the D-League Select squad: It’s only a matter of time before the Wizards amnesty Andray Blatche and pass that playing time on to Singleton, right? Wizards fans certainly [...]

Wizards Likely To Amnesty Andray Blatche

Andray Blatche has $23 million remaining on his contract.

Wizards Decide To Amnesty Blatche

Washington’s recent efforts to trade to trade Andray Blatche were not successful, and on July 17, 2012 the Wizards were forced to amnesty their once-beloved power forward.

Wizards Chris Singleton dunks on Chris Daniels (Video)

As the NBA continues its Summer League in Las Vegas, Washington Wizards forward Chris Singleton decided to put an NBA D-Leaguer flat on his back with a thunderous jam. Watch as Singleton skies to the rim and throws it down hard:

Could the Spurs whip Blatche into shape?

The Spurs have been searching for that solid, backup big man for a long time. Someone who can complement Tim Duncan and provide the size the team needs down low. Quality posts are hard to come by in the NBA these days, so would it be worth it for the Spurs to take a chance on a big guy with a less than stellar track record? Andray Blatche just got amnestied by the Washington Wizards...

POTD Summer League Edition: Chris Singleton on Chris Daniels

Since the name Chris Singleton may not be ringing any bells, let me remind you of his most notable exploit: Singleton once made waves in the blogosphere when he admitted to dropping 10 Gs on lottery tickets in an attempt to win the world’s biggest jackpot.  Other than that, the 22-year-old Wizard selected 18th overall in 2011 is yet to make much noise… but he’s got time,...
