It's time for another NBAwful update, sports fans! It should come as no surprise to anyone that watches the NBA that the Wizards and Bobcats are awful. But this year, they have some company. Cleveland is not rocking, and Phoenix is not burning up the desert. It's NBAwful! The Washington Wizards and Charlotte Bobcats both sit at the bottom of the Eastern Conference. They're in dead last in the same division! The Wizards are 11-32, and sport a 3-18 road record. Not to fear Wizards fans, they are 6-4 over their last 10. And, yes indeed, John Wall is finally back from injury. The point guard has been back 10 games (6-4 stretch as noted above) and has started the last three. The Wizards are 2-1 over those three, and only a last second shot by the Kings' Isiah Thomas away from being 3-0. Things are looking up in DC.Ah, the Bobcats. Only 1/2 game separates the Bobcats and Wizards in the standings, but the Bobcats are certainly careening towards the cellar. While the Wizards are 6-4 over their last 10 games, the Bobcats are 2-8. Yeesh.... Charlotte city leaders are so concerned about being mired in disaster, they have resorted to polling the citizenry if they should ditch the Bobcats moniker for the Hornets, who are becoming the Pelicans. What say you, Joe Q. Public? Either way, they're still destined to participate in the Elgin Baylor Invitational. The good news, (see, even I can find the bright side!) is the Hornets Bobcats Hornets Bobcats would need an epic collapse over the last few months to come close to last years record setting futility. Now for the company....Sorry Cleveland Cavaliers (13-32) fans, here we are again. It's been a frightful season for the Cavaliers faithful. Yes, they are setting themselves up for the lottery once again, but not because of any one decision, or bad coaching. Kyrie Irving has missed major time this season, and now guaranteed double-double big man Anderson Varajeo is out for the season. The only question remaining for the Cavs is how many ping-pong balls do they get in the hopper. And last, but definitely not least, are the Phoenix Suns (15-30). Well, they've already fired the head coach they started the season with. Alvin Gentry has left the desert. With a 15-33 record, and 3-7 over their last 10, firing a coach to make a point and getting these results doesn't seem like much of a point. The Suns may well be on their way to becoming a joke of a franchise. New coach Lindsey Hunter was hired, and their was immediate controversy from within the ranks, notably from longtime Suns player/broadcaster/coach Dan Majerle. This is Hunter's first head coaching gig. He was on the Pistons player development staff before this.
