ANALYSIS You never want to overreact to one game, especially since there are 65 more to go, but the Wizards couldn’t have had a more discouraging start to the season. They blew a 21-point lead at home to the equally lousy New Jersey Nets and several problems prematurely bubbled to the surface. Andray Blatche played poorly but blamed the play-calling for his performance. John Wall was scorched by one of the few all-star point guards that he won a head-to-head matchup against last season. Nick Young’s left foot was so sore after Blatche fell on his ankle in the third quarter that he walked out of the locker room in a nice suit and one shoe, unable to slide on his slick, black loafers. And JaVale McGee was benched for the final 4½ minutes and left the locker room without speaking to reporters. Read full article >>

Blatche A Captain To Nowhere

It might surprise you to know Andray Blatche is a team captain for the Washington Wizards. The sometimes moody Blatche is a middling player, averaging a career-high 16.8 points per game and 8.2 rebounds per game, although he shot just 44.5 percent from the floor and seemed to favor his mid-range jumper more than any post moves he might have. But Blatche is a team captain, and you...

Andray Blatche Wants the Ball in the Paint More…After One Game

Typically it takes an NBA player at least a couple weeks of poor results to start complaining about his role in the offense.  For Andray Blatche, all it takes is one game.  Blatche is committed to being a leader for the Wizards this season and even went as far as to say he was willing to die for his teammates.  After hearing his comments following Monday night’s opening game...

John Wall's Development Already In Put In Jeopardy By Wizards' Disfunction

John Wall is not yet a "floor general." He's not quite a "facilitator," although he's closing in on becoming the Washington Wizards' "engine." It remains to be seen what sort of metaphor develops to describe the second-year guard out of Kentucky, who visits the Garden on Sunday to face the Celtics. More than any other position, point guard...

Andray Blatche calls out his coach, wants ball in the post more

Andray Blatche is not happy with how the Wizards are using him. The only real surprise there is it came after only one game rather than midway through the season. Wizards: A franchise in John Wall's hands

For John Wall, the Monday before Christmas was especially busy. After an early practice with the team, he got on a bus with Wizards teammates Shelvin Mack, Hamady Ndiaye and Jordan Crawford, along with a few Capitals players and team executives, and delivered gifts to three local families. Then it ...
