When I talked to Washington Wizards rookie Bradley Beal during preseason, he spoke very highly of fellow shooting guard Manu Ginobili, even calling him dynamic and dangerous. Beal had hoped to get the opportunity to play against Ginobili that night, but with the Spurs all-star guard sidelined with an injury, Beal instead faced and struggled against Danny Green, with the 19-year-old failing to score a point in the game. Now, exactly one month later, Beal will have his chance to play against a player he has looked up to. “I’m looking forward to playing against (Ginobili),” Beal said last month. “He’s one of the best guards in the league so whenever I have the opportunity to play against anybody like that, I’m going to take full advantage of it.” While it was a bad night for Beal before a season full of potential at the time, he and the Wizards find themselves winless entering tonight's game. Beal has also had his share of struggles along the way, averaging 11.3 points and 3.6 rebounds in 28 minutes per game. Beal, known for his smooth shooting stroke and expected to blossom into one of the NBA's best pure shooters, has had his issues with the one thing he may have thought he mastered. He is currently shooting 32 percent from the field and has bad shooting nights (3-12, 4-12, 3-14, 1-11) littered across his early season stat sheet. Beal has been bouncing between the starting lineup and bench all season with the Wizards hoping one lineup will stick. Once expected to be a second or third place Rookie of the Year candidate, NBA.com's recent rookie rankings have him seventh among rookies. While Beal said his transition to the NBA went along smoothly with several veteran players mentoring him, his season has probably had more bumps in the road than expected. Although at 19, with a ton of pressure to help get a winless team into the win column, it was never expected to be easy. That theme will continue tonight as Beal will see plenty of Green and Ginobili in front of him. If that's not a rookie wall, I don't know what is.

Wizards Fans Have Had Enough, Ernie Grunfeld Needs to be Fired

Ted Leonsis continues to blog about sticking together and not making changes. Sometimes I see his blog posts as a slap to the fan, like we don’t know what the real problem with the organization is — the General Manager Ernie Grunfeld. The media knows it, the bloggers know it, and most importantly the fans know it. The only person at this time who doesn’t seem to know what needs...

Vesely struggling to improve

The Washington Wizards are finding it hard to get that first win of the season. Sitting at 0-12 has to be embarrassing enough. But for Wizards forward Jan Vesely, it gets even worse. To call Vesely a bust would be an understatement. Washington took him with the sixth overall pick in last year’s draft and he hasn’t even put up numbers that would be satisfactory for an undrafted...

Manu Ginobili Dribbles Between DeMar DeRozan’s Legs

In his time in the league, Manu Ginobili has certainly been one of the craftiest players around. He always finds a way to get to his spots, or get by his defender in some way. His “Euro step” has become a trademark move, and it seems like he always has something up his sleeve. So, why should it surprise us then when he tries to begin a fast break, he decides to actually dribble...

Hasta Luego, El Contusion?

This young 2012-2013 season started off with a familiar note: Manu Ginobili being injured. His first game of the season came against the Utah Jazz on November third after tweaking his back during practice. The guy plays tough, even against his teammates in situations that aren't really competitive. With injuries, come slow starts especially for a guy who needs to continually...

Andray Blatche: The Wizards Tried To End Me

Following last night’s 96-89 win over the Knicks, Andray Blatche took to twitter to write, “Feels good to be part of a winning organization” – a subtle shot at his former team, the 0-12 Washington Wizards. But it didn’t stop there. The Nets forward proceeded to do a radio interview with Holden Kushner and Danny Rouhier on 106.7 The Fan where he called out the Wizards for...

Spurs keep Wizards winless

WASHINGTON -- The Spurs are experienced and savvy and have good team chemistry. And, in terms of their record, win-heavy. In other words, everything the Washington Wizards are not. When the two met Monday, San Antonio went with a balanced approach in racking up its latest road victory. The winless Wizards' record remains decidedly tilted in the wrong direction. Boris...
