Wizards Seeking 2 First-Round Picks in Return for Kings Trade Target
Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

The Sacramento Kings have reportedly had interest in Washington Wizards F Kyle Kuzma since the 2023 off-season, but as the trade deadline approaches, the potential move could become reality. Kuzma, 28, averages 22.4 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game on a struggling Washington squad, but the wing is making a case for an All-Star appearance.

Sam Vecenie of The Athletic reports that the Wizards are seeking two first-round picks in return for Kuzma, or equivalent value.

League sources peg Kuzma’s current price tag to be something in the vein of two first-round picks or equivalent value. I’m skeptical another team will meet that price, so we’ll see if the Wizards have any wiggle room or if the marketplace substantially changes before February

It is unknown how much Sacramento values Kuzma and if they would be willing to give up the equivalent of two first-round picks for him. Kuzma is one of the best-fitting trade targets on the market for Sacramento, but the Wizards valuing him too highly could be costly for the Kings.

The Kings are reportedly looking to trade veteran F Harrison Barnes, but the Wizards likely do not value the 31-year-old forward as much as other teams might. The Kings could likely get Kuzma by giving up G Kevin Huerter and a future first-round pick, but it would be ideal if the Kings could get a deadline deal done without giving up the sharpshooter.

Kuzma would be a fantastic fit in Sacramento under a team-friendly contract worth $90 million over four years. If they can get a deal done without giving up too much, the Kings need to jump on it.
