As many San Antonio Spurs fans cringe at the thought of having one of the smallest front-line in the NBA with a new season starting in a week, Jan Hubbard of Sheridan Hoops doesn't totally agree with their thought process.
In a piece that almost made me open my eyes, Hubbard gives several reasons why the Spurs still have a legitimate chance at winning the NBA championship one last time. Hubbard uses a variety of arguments such as Manu Ginobili's late season injury, the splash of yourh, and a weaker Western Conference.
“We won 61 games, one game behind (the Bulls for best league record) in the regular season.” Ginobili said when Spurs training camp began. “We cannot become that much older in a year.”
”We’ve always had a decent number of young guys (who played),” said Popovich, who couldn’t resist a joke. “It’s just that everybody concentrates on Tim, Tony and Manu and thinks of those three guys. When Robert (Horry) played for us I think he was 44 or 45. He used to do ...

McDyess to retire after Spurs waive him
Antonio McDyess was waived by the San Antonio Spurs on Monday, clearing a path to retirement for the 17-year NBA veteran.

Ginobili considers Spurs among title contenders
Imagine if Bob Cousy could tell you he and Bill Russell were beginning to advance in age and he knew his chance at winning another ring would eventually be closing. Imagine if Michael Jordan could list the teams that were in contention for the NBA title when he was playing in his prime?
This world that you just imagined is what it feels like to cover sports in the 21st century whether...
Video: Duncan expects a lot from Splitter this season

Dennis Rodman is a clown on the court, literally
San Antonio Spurs fans will never forget Dennis Rodman, no matter how hard they try. The silly dyed hair, the wild demeanor on the court, it was all part of who he was as a player, a person, and it made for a great show. Well, it looks like the crazy hasn’t left his blood yet.The newly minted Hall of Famer is taking part in the US Pro-Ball Legend Asia Tour, which tipped off yesterday...
Where is depth more critical?
The last time we left the San Antonio Spurs, they had answered one off season question, still had one unanswered and had created another question about the 2011-2012 roster. The question answered was how were they going to find more productivity out of the small forward position. Kawhi Leonard should help Spurs fans sleep better at night knowing Richard Jefferson isn't the only...

McDyess set to retire after Spurs waive veteran
Antonio McDyess was waived by the San Antonio Spurs on Monday, clearing a path to retirement for the 17-year NBA veteran.
Duncan’s last stand
I still remember the feeling of watching the San Antonio Spurs win the lottery back in 1997. The Spurs were never a bad team, but since David Robinson got injured they had a terrible record the year before. I didn’t think it was fair they got the number one pick since their season seemed more like a fluke. But I knew what that number one pick was going to be used for, and I knew...

After the playoffs, Antonio McDyess sounded like a guy ready to retire. After the lockout there was the thought he might be willing and able to give it a go in the shortened season, but that is not going to happen, reports Mike Monroe of the Express-News. The team acknowledged that McDyess won’t be back,…
