Eazy Yi recently became the latest NBAer to suffer an injury while playing overseas during the lockout. He’s expected to miss 2-4 weeks. China Daily reports: “Guangdong Hongyuan star center Yi Jianlian was injured midway the game when teammate Zhu Fangyu crushed him in the right leg while falling after a scramble with Beijing’s Stephon Marbury. Yi, who started his game with three points, then walked off the court and was sent to a local hospital for examination. … ‘We are still unsure about Yi’s injury,’ said Guangdong head coach Li Chunjiang.”

Yi Jianlian hurts knee in Chinese league

Yi Jianlian went down with a right knee injury as his CBA team, Guangdong, was defeated by Stephon Marbury and the Beijing Ducks on Thursday. Sina Sports recently reported that the knee injury isn’t too serious, but unlike JR Smith, Yi will still be forced to rest for at least two weeks. Here’s a link to Sina’s article in Chinese, and an excerpt from my poorly-translated...

Yi Jianlian's Knee Picked A Bad Time To Get Injured

Washington Wizards' free-agent Yi Jianlian is currently living the expression, "If it wasn't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all." Yi has been playing with Guangdong of the Chinese Basketball Association during the lockout and in a recent game against Beijing, suffered an injury to his right knee (via NBA247365.com) and will sit out at least two weeks for...

Trevor Booker’s leg is improving

Trevor Booker’s stint in Israel came to abrupt end before he was even able to play a regular season game for Bnei HaSahron because of bruised right quadriceps. Booker returned to the United States to rehabilitate the injury with trainer Tim Martin in Houston. Booker said three weeks ago that he selfishly wanted the lockout to last a little longer so that he would be prepared for...

Rashard Lewis About To Take Bath On Florida House; $4MM

Things aren’t looking so good for Washington Wizards forward Rashard Lewis financially. There are rumors the Wizards are going to release him and his $22 million per year salary when the NBA offseason officially begins. Normally, that wouldn’t matter because NBA contracts used to be guaranteed, but the new collective bargaining agreement has some stipulation that allows teams...

Box Seats: Wizards could make moves

Box Seats blogger Lee Friedman offers his opinion on how the NBA’s new CBA could affect the Wizards. Among other observations, Friedman says: It’s ironic that the amnesty clause included in the new CBA would have been of more use to the team three years ago (and $60 million worth of grotto-building by Gilbert Arenas). The clause allows teams to erase one contract from their...

NBA 2011-12 schedule: Grueling stretch ahead for Wizards

The NBA is planning to start a 66-game season on Dec. 25, so the Wizards will have to prepare for a grueling stretch over the next few months. Rest and practice time will be limited, with teams playing an average of four games per week – or the exact same pace of the 50-game lockout-shortened season in 1999. Read full article >>

Report: Yi Jianlian out 2-4 weeks

Players will be making their way back from overseas now that the lockout is effectively over, yes, even those that signed with the Chinese Basketball Association and their “no opt-out” rule. You’re going to see a slew of releases over everything from “injuries” like strained hamstrings to “personal differences” as reasons why CBA teams “release”…

Wizards eager to go with 66 games ahead

It was Day 149 of the NBA lockout, and the latest negotiation session was heading into its 15th hour. Wizards free agent Maurice Evans, vice president of the players trade association, was feeling a wide range of emotions. Time was running out to save the season. Then, just before 3 ...

Jan Vesely waiting for work visa before returning to U.S.

Jan Vesely will remain in the Czech Republic for another week, possibly until at least the day before Wizards training camp is set to begin, while he waits for the NBA lockout to get lifted in order to acquire a work visa. Owners and players may have reached a tentative settlement on their antitrust lawsuit that will allow training camps to begin on Dec. 9. But Alexander Raskovic...
