'You say anything to get clicks!' Shaquille O’Neal slams Shannon Sharpe for calling him jealous of Nikola Jokic’s MVP
Jamie Sabau-USA TODAY Sports

For Shaquille O’Neal, what fans think does not make much of an impact. However, when a compatriot in the media talks about anything negative, he does have a tendency to talk trash back. He did just that against another Hall of Famer, Shannon Sharpe .

O'Neal took to his official Instagram account and posted a message to the former Super Bowl champion.

"You took me sticking up Shai ask jealousy of joker. Shows how smart you are and how you say anything to get clicks. If you ain’t ranked in the top ten in your profession, then you can’t speak on Me. Don’t forget I know what you did to get were you at. Me jealous, sounds like you jealous. I kno you tryna stay relevant by gossiping on your podcast. And to b quite frank all this new success you got, you still under me. If you need help making money it’s better ways than gossiping," Shaquille O’Neal wrote.

The big man essentially clapped back at Shannon Sharpe for saying that he was jealous of Nikola Jokic‘s third MVP award. O’Neal was instead supporting Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Shaquille O’Neal has gone after other media members for talking about him. Sharpe’s colleague at ESPN, Chris Russo, was on the receiving end of one of his rants when the longtime analyst and radio host said that he does not consider the big man to be the best center all-time in the history of the NBA.

Shannon Sharpe called Shaquille O’Neal jealous

The backdrop of this new beef stems from what Shannon Sharpe said on his podcast Nightcap.

"We'll never see another guy Shaq size with his athleticism, that was as dominant as him. Shaq should have 5 MVPs. He sees a guy like Nikola Jokic, that's not as dominant as him, and gets 3 in 4 years. But see when you historically great they talk about you as great basketball player, the GOAT. And Shaq is never brought up. And I think a part of him is envious of that," Shannon Sharpe said.

To sum it up, the great tight end said that Shaquille O’Neal was jealous as he only earned one MVP award; Nikola Jokic has three in the past four years.

Sharpe took the 4our-time champion‘s athleticism and ability to dominate, unlike any player could ever do, as the prime point. If O’Neal had all that, then how could he not win more than one MVP? Sharpe thinks he should have at least five.

Therefore, he essentially called out the 7-foot-1 center for not having a work ethic to take advantage of his size and skills. Therefore, Sharpe thinks O’Neal is jealous of others who have won more than him despite not being as good.
