Two primary components in the Milwaukee Bucks' youth movement arrived in the late July trade that sent point guard Brandon Jennings to the Detroit Pistons. The key figure in the deal from the Bucks perspective was 21-year-old point guard Brandon Knight a third-year pro who will not turn 22 until Dec. 2. But that is not to discount 22-year-old small forward Khris Middleton who was injured for much of his rookie season with the Pistons. Both players were impressive in the Bucks' 102-99 exhibition loss at Memphis on Tuesday night. Knight penetrated the Grizzlies defense looked for and took his shot when he had it and scored a team-high 19 points on 8-of-16 shooting while adding five rebounds and four assists. Middleton was scoreless in 8 first-half minutes but sank 7 of 10 shots in the second half and scored 15 points in 17 minutes after intermission. It was an important outing for the 6-foot-3 Knight being counted on by the Bucks to step into the spot filled by Jennings for the past four seasons. "That's something the coaches and everybody is telling me to do a little bit more is just attack" Knight said. "I'm just trying to feel my way through the process but I'm definitely going to be a player that attacks the entire game. "That's one of my strengths. And I think through me attacking I'll be able to make defenses play me a lot more and get guys easier shots." Knight made a darting drive to the basket in the first half and scored with his left hand connecting over several defenders. "Things open up" Knight said. "You find little lanes little gaps. That's what I was able to do on that play." Knight played well Tuesday while matching up against an elite point guard in the Grizzlies' Mike Conley. "Mike's a terrific point guard and anytime you play against him you better bring your 'A' game because he's going to bring his" Bucks coach Larry Drew said. "I thought Brandon did a good job." Drew said he planned to meet with his players individually Wednesday and go over what each one can bring to the team.
