Fox Sports North:
For what it's worth, they won.
Timberwolves guards Ricky Rubio and Alexey Shved both participated on Charles Barkley's team, Team Chuck, in Friday night's BBVA Rising Stars Challenge. Barkley's crew defeated Shaquille O'Neal's, 163-135, in a high-scoring and completely unrealistic game that eventually devolved into a dunk exhibition.
Rubio, who started the game, played just under 16 minutes, logging 10 assists and 5 points on 50 percent shooting. Shved came of the bench, and in 18 minutes he scored 12 points and dished 4 assists. Highlights of the game included a Rubio pass off the backboard that Nuggets forward Kenneth Faried slammed for a putback dunk. Shved's reverse dunk in the second half was arguably his most memorable move of the night.
Faried won the MVP award for the game, scoring 40 points in 22 minutes for Team Chuck. Cleveland's Kyrie Irving led Team Shaq with 32 points, and Rubio's 10 assists tied him with Sacramento's Isaiah Thomas for the most of any player in the game. (Thomas played nearly six more minutes than did Rubio, however.)
Rubio competed in the Rising Stars game during last February's All-Star weekend, and he spoke earlier in the week in Minneapolis about the benefits of mingling with the league's best during the festivities.
"Being an All-Star in the NBA, you realize that you are in the NBA," Rubio said. "You are around all the stars, and even if we are not playing in the All-Star Game, we are around all the show. It's good to be there."
Rubio was a last-minute selection to the game, along with Thomas. Both were added to the roster on Feb. 7, when O'Neal and Barkley "drafted" their teams on TNT. Shved was among the initial 18 players selected. The two guards were the only Timberwolves competing in All-Star weekend, and both have concluded their activities in Houston.

AUBURN TIGERS FOREVER!
Motormouth basketball analyst Charles Barkley decided to tweak his college rivals tonight during Thursday night's NBA on TNT broadcast. Barkley, who played his college ball at Auburn, opened the broadcast with a bandage wrapped around his head. The Chuckwagon quipped that he had been mugged and robbed on a trip to Tuscaloosa, a not-so-veiled allusion to the arrests of four Alabama...
Friday night kicked off the All-Star Weekend in Houston with the Rising Stars Challenge and the celebrity game. The celebrity game was pretty boring in my opinion, but the Rising Stars Challenge had a few highlights. Check out the alley-oop from Ricky Rubio off the glass to Kenneth Faried. Not quite a dunk, but still a pretty play.

I have learned so much about Charles Barkley since he joined the TNT’s Inside The NBA show, but some things I could have went without knowing. Last night Barkley shared with the world that he used to keep Vaseline in his belly button during games.
Barkley proclaimed he used the Vaseline to prevent chapped lips. While trying to understand his logic, I failed miserably. On one hand...
TO EACH HIS OWN
Karl Malone said that Charles Barkley used to keep Vaseline in his belly button during games. Find out why he would do that.
Charles Barkley, being the Auburn Alum that he is, couldn’t resist taking a shot at the Alabama Crimson Tide football players that were recently arrested for assaulting a student and stealing his credit cards. Nothing like Chuck in front of a camera during All Star Weekend to keep things entertaining.

As you probably know, Charles Barkley went to Auburn. Like most other Tigers, he is not very fond of Alabama. Barkley is also one of the most outspoken television analysts in sports, which is why it comes as no surprise that he wore a bandage and put fake blood on his head on the set of TNT’s “Inside the NBA” Thursday night to poke fun at the recent Alabama player arrests....
MINNEAPOLIS A trick of the schedule, and they're all thinking back to last season.
Last season, just as this one, the final game before the All-Star break ended with the Jazz. It ended with a close game, a floater from Luke Ridnour to win the thing, 100-98, and to push the Timberwolves to .500.
Consider that moment, for a second, rather than the spring collapse that obscured...
Charles Barkley, an Auburn alum, did not miss an opportunity to zing rival Alabama following the arrest of four of the Tide's football players for beating up a student.
You never know what you might hear on TNT’s “Inside the NBA” during Friday night’s special broadcast for the BBVA Rising Stars challenge (the reloaded rookie-sophomore game) there was a special guest on hand, NBA legend, Karl Malone. Karl shared a story about how he and Charles Barkley were roommates at one point. Karl began a story about how Charles is a neat-freak but...
There are just some things that should be kept locked away and I mean lost in Pandora’s Box.
While at the NBA All Star weekend in Houston, Karl Malone caught up with TNT host during halftime and reminisced on Charles Barkley. Malone revealed some information that might have caused you to shift your seat while watching it live, he says that Barkley use to keep vaseline in his...
Last night the NBA’s youngest stars rallied together to play in the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge Game. Charles Barkley’s team demolished Team Shaq with a 165-135 victory. The MVP honors was awarded to Denver Nugget forward Kenneth Faried, who scored 40-points and 10-rebounds.
In addition to starting off the NBA All-Stars weekend, Adidas players also made a strong impact during...
The 2012-2013 NBA Season is more than half over. Looking at the standings, I really don’t see a whole lot of surprises. I think the Knicks are overachieving and I don’t think I would have predicted the Pacers to be eleven games over .500, but overall it’s not a surprising season.
Today, we’ll shift our focus on the 2012-2013 rookies. Who’s a boom? Who’s a bust? It’s...
