Its nice to finally see players giving $20,000 to needy families instead of the strip clubs. Per My Fox Memphis, Zach Randolph of the Memphis Grizzles, donated $20,000 to Metropolitan Inter-Faith Association to be shared amongst 100 families. After practice on Thursday, Randolph, visited homes that get to reap the benefits of his donation. While visiting the homes, he signed autographs and gave encouraging words to kids. “Come from single parent home, mom was on welfare, struggled myself so I know what it’s like,” Randolph said. “Been fortunate, blessed. Just like to give back because I think this something the Lord has served me to do, give back, brings me blessings in other ways. I’m here to tell you you’re a blessing to me.” Not too far behind him is Charlotte Bobcats Brendan Haywood, Haywood has helped over a dozen working mothers in similar situations. Per the Charlotte Observer, on Sunday, the mothers met at the local Salvation Army, to update each other on their situations and looked in amazement as out of nowhere, the Bobcats mascot, Rufus, and several media cameras showed up. Rochelle Monroe, one of the recipients, watched as her child played with Rufus as she spoke with media. “They said they were going to give us help,” she said. “I don’t know what they mean.” Haywood, gave the women his sympathy and told them the great news of paying their utility bill for the rest of the year. “I know it’s hard going day to day making ends meet,” Haywood said to the women. “One of the hardest things when my mom was trying to stretch that dollar was paying bills.” “take this gift and have a great year.”
