The Walter McCarty Blog: Appreciating Boston
The Celtics franchise is one with winning traditions, and when you put on the uniform, there is always pressure to win. I got to Boston early in my career; our team was very young and I think we were mostly expected to be competitive in the league. The crowd was always quick to know, if we didn’t bring it you heard boos at home. For the most part, we had a lot of fun. As we matured...
The Walter McCarty Blog: On Becoming a Celtic…
When I first received the news from coach Jeff Van Gundy, I was in my hotel room getting ready for our last preseason game against the Celtics in Boston. The phone rang, Jeff and I spoke for 10 minutes, and that was it. The next call came from then general manager Chris Wallace welcoming me to the team — he arranged to pick me up and bring me to the arena to watch the game.
The...
The Walter McCarty Blog: On being a Rookie.
Hi, Red’s Army readers and Celtics fans. Walter McCarty has graciously agreed to do a few blogs for Red’s Army so he can give his perspective on the NBA, the Celtics and life after hoops. Here’s part one of the series. Go C’s. -@sambot5k
On Being A Rookie
Leading up to the ’96 NBA Draft I was a bit road weary from working out for all the teams. I was very anxious, nervous...
Former Celtics dominate Kentucky alumni game
Ok "dominate" might be a slight exaggeration, but former Celtics Antoine Walker, Walter McCarty, and Tony Delk were in full effect during the Kentucky alumni game. Rajon Rondo (and Ron Mercer) didn't attend for some reason, but who needs Rondo when you have Delk dishing sweet passes to McCarty for dunks.
Here are some more 'Toine highlights. And since someone...
SIMON: Walter McCarty Plays On
If basketball be the snack for competition, play on; if words be the juice to our minds, play on; if music be the food for our soul, play on. We all have aspects of our lifestyles that feed into our cravings of a delectable appetite for the arts, the soul and the mind. Former Kentucky basketball player Walter McCarty is not afraid to show UK fans and the world his huge appetite for music.

NBA Appreciation Day: A Short Story About Walter McCarty
Happy Friday, and happy NBA Appreciation Day, everyone! I wish I could find the time to make these posts more often, but they always get put on the back burner. Anyway, Walter McCarty. If you’re a member of generation Y who grew up in Celtics territory then you probably have fond memories of his three-point stroke. Well, maybe it was more the way Tommy Heinsohn felt about...
Suns Acquire McCarty from Celtics
Posted: Feb. 8, 2005
The Phoenix Suns continued to bolster its bench by acquiring veteran forward Walter McCarty and an undisclosed amount of cash from the Boston Celtics today in exchange for the 2005 conditional second-round pick the Suns acquired last month from Golden State in a trade for forward Zarko Cabarkapa.
The versatile 6-10, 230-pound forward, who spent the last...

Memory Lane Monday: Walter McCarty
Walter McCarty was a fan favorite for many years in Boston, often getting praise from Celtics announcer Tommy Heinsohn, whose catch phrase “I love Walta” rang true to many C’s fans. McCarty was a key contributor off the bench in Beantown from 1997-05. His three-point shooting (especially from the corner) was deadly and helped the Celtics reached the Eastern Conference Finals...
