Found May 28, 2013 on Turn On The Jets:
Here at Turn On The Jets, we decided to take a page out of Robert Mays book over at Grantland (a polite way of saying rip his article idea off) by counting down the 115 days until the New York Jets kick off, with a daily reason to get excited about their return. Mays has the whole NFL to work with, we only have the Goddamn Jets…now there is a challenge, step your game up Mays! We continue today with a look at the bearded greatness of Nick Mangold (Note, you can track this entire series right here) The New York Jets took center Nick Mangold with the 29th overall pick in the 2006 Draft. He was a day one starter, grew into an All-Pro player and despite struggling a bit the past couple of years with minor injuries has remained a steadying presence in the middle of the Jets offensive line. What happened to Mark Sanchez in primetime against the Baltimore Ravens in 2011 while Mangold was sidelined and Collin Baxter was under center was a harsh reminder of his value. Through it all, Mangold has been a class act both on and off the field…basically everything you’d hope for in a first round pick and he did it all while rocking just a terrific beard. Look at that thing, it looks like he is about to climb over the wall and march on Castle Black! There was only one thing that could stop Brett Favre on the way to texting Jenn Sterger. What was it? You guessed right! Prime-Time Beard For the kids! Beard For The People Dancing Beard Keep growing and keep blocking, Nick. - DAILY NEWS STORY PITCH OF THE DAY - 900 words bidding farewell to Manish Mehta on the Jets beat. A source close to situation, an anonymous player, somebody familiar with the team and somebody in the locker room who wished to remain nameless all wish him the best of luck. RANDOM JET TO REMEMBER OF THE DAY – PATRICK RAMSEY! - Quick, name every Jets quarterback to attempt a pass in the post-season since 1998. Vinny Testaverde. Chad Pennington. Mark Sanchez. Duh. WRONG! You forgot Patrick Ramsey, the Jets backup for 1 year in 2006, who was 1/1 for -1 yard against the New England Patriots in the wild-card round. Ramsey slung one out in the flats to BJ Askew. Now you know.
