Remember last year's team captains photo? The one where Cornelius Griffin said his teammates told the six captains "You look gangster'? Well, today was scheduled to be the updated version, and -- largely thanks to Jason Campbell's choice of ensembles -- things did not go exactly as planned. "You know, there's nothing gangster about what Jason's got on right now," said Mike Sellers, a first-year captain. "Everybody wore their dark suits, but Jason wore a light gray suit, which don't make no sense."The six captains had reminders put in their lockers to ensure that they brought suits, which are not part of the usual Monday attire. "The note said black or gray suits," Rock Cartwright said, "and he wore the lightest gray suit he could find. He looked good, but he stuck out like a sore thumb. That's Jason, though. I guess he's the quarterback, he can do whatever he wants." Cornelius Griffin shrugged it off. &qu...

Jason Campbell's Teammates Call Him A "Tough Guy"

Here's a partial schedule of how postgame breaks down: the team gets a mandated cooling-off period before the media is allowed in. The first part of that cooling-off period is given over to the head coach's postgame speech, which occurs behind closed doors; then, while the team starts showering, changing, and so on, the coach heads down the hall to hold his press conference...

Montgomery, Campbell will practice

Quarterback Jason Campbell, who sprained an ankle last Sunday at St. Louis, and defensive tackle Anthony Montgomery, who was inactive against the Rams with an ailing knee, will both work today.

Skins-Rams Winners & Losers

WINNERS: Jason Campbell.  23-for-35 for 242 yards. He’s now completed nearly 70% of his passes, a number that would be higher had Devin Thomas and Mike Sellers both not dropped touchdown passes yesterday. JC certainly wasn’t perfect, but he also wasn’t the reason this team couldn’t score touchdowns. Chris Cooley. Seven catches for 83 yards — a [...]

2009 Captain's Photo, Take 2

When last we visited our intrepid team captains, they had assembled for their group photo only to find that Jason Campbell was wearing a suit that was several shades too light. Today, they tried again. Much better. Success! And no one even had anything sarcastic to say afterward, even when I asked."Jason got enough of it last time," Mike Sellers said. Then he stopped to...

Redskins 9 – Rams 7

I’m confused.  I admit it.  Jason Campbell played well today.  The Redskins outgained the Rams by more than 100 yards.  They had 7 more first downs than the Rams, and possessed the ball for almost 10 more minutes.  They ran 20 more plays than the Rams.  The penalties and turnovers were almost even.  I [...]

Fan Mailbag: Campbell In Shotgun Formation?

Jason Campbell has had some success in the shotgun formation. Why not use it more? You've got questions, Redskins.com's Gary Fitzgerald has answers.

Week Three Fantasy Sleepers: Ricky Williams, Jason Campbell & More.

It was not a very good week for my sleeper picks for Week Two. (click here for the original article) JaMarcus Russell:  7-24, 109 yards, 0 TD, 0 INTLeSean McCoy: five carries for 18 yards; four receptions for 37 yardsAntwaan Randle-El: four receptions for 39 yardsVernon Davis: two receptions for 32 yards Wow, none of those players did much to help fantasy owners. Keep in mind...

Redskins Hold on for First Win

With the Rams threatening to take the lead early in the fourth quarter -- they had a first down on the Redskins' 15 -- Washington came up with the biggest defensive play of the game. On third and four from the Washington 9, Marc Bulger found receiver Donnie Avery on the right side. Avery made a move at the 5 in an attempt to get more yardage, but Redskins safety Chris Horton...

Rams Lead Redskins by a Point at the Half

The Redskins' first possession of the quarter lasted 5 minutes, 57 seconds -- their second of at least that long on the day. It featured four first downs and covered 64 yards. But once again, it ended in a short field goal for Suisham, this one of 28 yards for a 6-0 lead with 7:58 left. The Redskins' plays, after getting first and goal from the 8: a two-yard loss for Portis...

Jim Zorn Is Out of His League As Redskins' Head Coach

The Redskins evened their record at 1-1 with their underwhelming defeat of the visiting St. Louis Rams. A win is a win in the NFL, but a 7-9 win over the worst team in the NFL raises questions for the team. It is difficult to place the blame on any one player or coach so early in the year because there are plenty of games left to play. That being said, if Jim Zorn doesn't step...

Playbook NFC - Redskins

Some interesting tidbits I recall from the show: - On the pass that ARE was called for holding in the endzone and Campbell threw it away, Mayock talked about how poor and lazy ARE's route was and that was a major reason he wasn't open. - He also said that Mike Sellers ran a very...

What's wrong with Santana Moss?

I've been accused of being too much of a homer. Of being blinded by burgundy, but even in my blindness I see something wrong with the redskins offense that is somewhat disconcerting. No, It's not Jason Campbell. It isn't the line and It isn't the coach. It's Santana Moss. No, he has not lost a...

Redskins get first win the hard way

It was an eyesore more than a win, but a victory nonetheless for the Washington Redskins, who defeated the St. Louis Rams 9-7 despite not scoring a touchdown. The Redskins went 0-for-4 in the red zone and lost the ball on downs with 1:58 remaining. Starting at his own 4, St. Louis quarterback Marc Bulger threw four incompletions and the Redskins ran out the final 92 seconds. Shaun...
