Whether you’re a Patriots fan, a Colts fan, or an NFL fan in general, I’d like to think you’ve had Week 11 circled on your calendar for a while now.
When New England and Indianapolis get together, it’s almost always memorable for one reason or another, and with the way that both teams have been playing thus far this season, there’s a good chance that we could see these longtime rivals face off sometime in January.
That must-see matchup is the highlight of the late Sunday afternoon slate, but I suggest you also keep an eye on St. Louis, where Atlanta should be on upset alert against Sam Bradford and the Rams.
Here’s how I think things will shake out in the aforementioned clashes and in the other two late Sunday afternoon games, with New Orleans hosting Seattle and Tampa Bay visiting San Francisco. Will there be much of a shakeup in the NFC South standings? We’ll see.

St. Louis Rams vs. Atlanta Falcons, 4:05 P.M. ET
Spread: Atlanta by 3
Total: 43
This shapes up to be a challenge for the NFC South-leading Falcons, who have won three in a row. The Rams are 4-1 at home this season, and four of their five losses have been by four points or less, including last week’s 23-20 overtime loss at San Francisco.
Sam Bradford has six touchdowns and no interceptions in his last four games, and another efficient game could put the Rams in position for the win, especially if Steven Jackson can continue his fine run of form as well.
Upset special of the day? I think so.
PICK: ST. LOUIS +3 (Strength Rating: 6.5/10), UNDER 43 (Strength Rating: 5/10)
New Orleans Saints vs. Seattle Seahawks, 4:05 P.M. ET
Spread: New Orleans by 12
Total: 44
There’s only one game separating these two in the win/loss column, but the gulf is much, much larger in quality, and the Saints will show that at home.
PICK: NEW ORLEANS -12 (Strength Rating: 8.5/10), OVER 44 (Strength Rating: 4/10)
San Francisco 49ers vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 4:05 P.M. ET
Spread: San Francisco by 3
Total: 41.5
After an 0-5 start, the 49ers have woken up in recent weeks, as they come into Week 11 with three wins in their last four games. With the NFC West being mediocre at best, San Francisco’s still very much in the hunt in the division, for now at least.
Troy Smith has shown himself to be quite the capable starter in leading the 49ers to wins over the Broncos and Rams, but a lot of Frank Gore, will go a long way for San Fran tomorrow afternoon.
PICK: SAN FRANCISCO -3 (Strength Rating: 7/10), UNDER 41.5 (Strength Rating: 6/10)
New England Patriots vs. Indianapolis Colts, 4:15 P.M. ET
Spread: New England by 3.5
Total: 50
So will we see another classic between Brady and the Patriots and Manning and the Colts? Let’s hope so. It’s certainly a shame that we get these matchups only once a year, but hopefully another will be forthcoming in the postseason.
Brady’s coming off of a monster game at Pittsburgh, and he’s on his way to hitting the 30-touchdown mark for the first time since his 50-touchdown season in 2007, while Peyton is being Peyton, with 2,663 yards and 16 touchdowns thus far.
So who’s going to prevail? It’s hard not to take the Patriots at home, especially coming off of a big statement win against the Steelers. It will be close though, and let there be points, points, and more points!
PICK: INDIANAPOLIS +3.5 (Strength Rating: 6/10), OVER 50 (Strength Rating: 9/10)
