So the NFL’s trade deadline has come and gone. Did you even notice? Do you even care? I’m guessing that the answer to both of those questions is no. There have been a total of two trades since this regular season started. Both of those trades occurred this week. One involved a wide receiver, Mike Thomas being sent from Jacksonville to Detroit to be the fourth wide receiver on the Lions. Jacksonville received an undisclosed draft pick in the deal. The other trade sent suspended cornerback Aqib Talib and a seventh round pick to New England in exchange for a fourth round pick. Riveting stuff no? Unfortunately this lack of trade activity is fairly common in the NFL. You just don’t see the blockbuster trades like you do in other leagues. Every once in a while, though, a trade does happen that changes the fortunes of a team. One such trade happened in 2010 when the Seahawks went out and grabbed Marshawn Lynch from the Buffalo Bills. Marshawn came in and immediately started for the Seahaw...

Acquisition of WR Thomas Gives Lions Depth

The Detroit Lions acquired wide receiver Mike Thomas from the Jacksonville Jaguars for a mid-round pick earlier this week. The Lions employ three and four receiver sets often on offense, so the desire to obtain more depth at the position is understandable.

Touchdown Seahawks! Marshawn Lynch takes it 77 yards!

Beast Mode Flashes Speed The Seattle Seahawks lost last week 24-28 to the Detroit Lions, and despite Marshawn Lynch‘s 100-plus yards, he finished with less then 3 yards per carry in one of his worst overall performances. It wasn’t entirely his fault, though, as the offensive line struggled to get to the second level all game long, as they were physically dominated by the Lions...

Can the Seahawks ever be road warriors?

As a lifelong Seahawks fan, that question is something I have pondered over and over again.  The answer I come up with is this:  I just do not know, but it is something that must be figured out in order for them to make the leap from pretender to contender. To be considered a legitimate contender, it simply must happen.  No team can win a Super Bowl, let alone a few playoff games...

Mike Thomas Has Difficult Road Ahead in Attempting to Replace Nate Burleson for Lions

The loss of Nate Burleson didn't sting too much during the Lions' 28-24 win over the Seahawks on Sunday. But, make no mistake, Burleson's absence is a big deal in Detroit. Mike Thomas, the Jacksonville Jaguars' exiled wide receiver, will now be charged with helping to fill the Lions' void at receiver -- a hefty task, even on the NFL's...
