It’s hard to believe that the NFL season has already hit October.  We’ve had 4 and a half weeks of great plays, bad calls, horrible replacement refs and a New York Jets team that should go into hibernation until 2013 Rookie Mini Camp.  However I think we need to focus on the positives of this season thus far.  Thus, here are my 2012 1st Quarter Offensive Awards:2012 NFL Offensive Play of the Year Award: Matt Ryan, QB, Atlanta FalconsMatt Ryan has brought his game to a whole new level so far this year.  His 69.4 completion percentage is second in the NFL to Aaron Rodgers.  He leads the league in QB rating (112.1) and is second in the NFL in touchdowns with 11.However Ryan goes even farther than his statistics.  The Atlanta Falcons are 4-0 thanks to his clutch throws.  (None of which were greater than his 60-yard completion in the final two minutes of the Atlanta and Carolina game.)Ryan has always been a good regular season QB.  He made the playoffs in his rookie year and has brought ...

Slow down: Matt Ryan isn’t an ‘Elite’ quarterback yet

All of this talk of Atlanta Falcons’ Matt Ryan being an ‘Elite’ quarterback or even becoming ‘Elite’ has got to end. Sorry Falcon fans, but if throwing for 290.5 yards and game makes you an ‘Elite’ quarterback, than Tony Romo is an elite quarterback. Has Matt Ryan been playing extremely well? Absolutely, throwing for 290.5 a games with 11 touchdowns, which is almost...

Ryan stirring MVP talk with best start of career

Matt Ryan keeps shrugging off any suggestion that he's trying to make up for his playoff failures. Whatever the case, the Atlanta Falcons quarterback has taken his game to a new level. A quarter of the way into the season, Ryan is the NFL's top-rated passer and a big reason the Falcons (4-0) have matched the best start in franchise history. True to his nature, Ryan dismisses...

Falcons QB Matt Ryan Wins NFC Offensive Player Of The Month…

Falcons QB Matt Ryan Wins NFC Offensive Player Of The Month Award - For many people, nothing Matt Ryan does in September will ever matter. But it was still a really good September. The Falcons quarterback was named NFC offensive player of the month for September, for leading his team to a 4-0 record. Ryan was fairly phenomenal, with a plus-100.0 passer rating in each game. He...

Matt Ryan's MVP Chances After Four Games

It might seem a little early to start talking about possible MVP's after only four games, but it is still fun to speculate. After the first four games of the season, Matt Ryan has led the Falcons to its first 4-0 start since the 1980's.  He is also the league leader in quarterback rating at an astounding 112.1.  He is second in the league with 11 touchdowns, trailing only...

Atlanta Falcons Perched Comfortably Atop The NFC South

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan is delivering on his potential this season. I’m still reeling from the amazing finish to the Falcons/Panthers game on Sunday. With mere seconds left and all the way at their own 2 yard line, the Falcons, or shall I say Matt Ryan and Roddy White with a little help from Matt Bryant’s leg, pulled off the kind of thing that makes last year’s non...

Falcons-Redskins Preview

Just four games into the season, the Atlanta Falcons have already built a sizable NFC South lead. That hasn't kept them from realizing they have a long way to go. Matt Ryan looks to guide Atlanta to its first 5-0 start Sunday when Robert Griffin III tries to help the Washington Redskins end their seven-game home losing streak. Heading into 2012 with an 0-3 playoff record since...

It's a Love Hate Relationship

Love/Hate for Week 5:  QB:  Love- Ok I get it, picking Matt “Matty Ice” Ryan may seem like a cop out, but I can’t help it. Matt Ryan has really turned it on this season, going from a mid Tier 2 QB to a full-blown elite Tier 1 QB.  In the vast majority of fantasy leagues, Ryan is among the top three QBs in scoring. He has 11 TDs so far and he’s averaging close to 300...

Keys for the Redskins to Upset the Falcons

The Redskins will host the Falcons at 1:00 PM on Sunday and look to hand Atlanta their first loss on the season. Redskins Nation knows that the key match-up of this game is going to be Matt Ryan and the explosive Falcon offense vs. the Redskins defense, and in particular the secondary. There is little doubt that Atlanta is going to put points on the board so more than likely,...

Fantasy football start em sit em week 5

Andy Dalton, Cincinnati Bengals vs. Miami Dolphins: This should be an interesting game. Is Miami better than we thought or can Cincy handle their business? Well either way you should use Andy Dalton here.

Week 5 Fantasy Football Preview: Falcons vs. Redskins

The Atlanta Falcons escaped with a comeback victory over the Carolina Panthers and stayed undefeated at 4-0.The Falcons' offense has been on a roll all season long and facing a porous defense that offense won't slow down this week. The Washington Redskins are coming in at 2-2 and have only committed two turnovers through the first two weeks. The two turnovers are a shocking...

One Man's Opinion: NFL Power Rankings After Week 4

(NOTE: Rankings are considered by wins and losses, margins of victory and defeat, quality of opposition, and recent record trends)1. Houston (4-0) (Last week: 1)They’ve never been 4-0 in franchise history, so it should come as no surprise that this is the earliest in any of 11 seasons that Houston has had 4 wins; the previous mark was in 2010, when the Texans were 4-2 on October...
