Greetings Football Nation readers. Let me be the first to welcome you to my new column that I am calling Decision Time. Each week I will both look at decisions made by players or owners and how those decisions will affect their respective team, and I will finish each week by looking at future decisions bound to affect teams of the NFL.
This week I look at hold-outs from Maurice Jones-Drew and Mike Wallace, I examine Adrian Peterson’s decision of shooting for a return date of week one, I examine Ryan Kalil’s Super Bowl guarantee and I finish up looking at several teams experience quarterback battles in this year’s training camps.
Maurice Jones-Drew Holdout
Training camps are usually filled with players battling for the right to win the starting job at their position. However, in Jacksonville, running back Maurice Jones-Drew is not battling against other players but against his boss.
Jones-Drew who led the NFL in rushing last season with 1,616 yards, is unhappy with his curren...
BEST OF MAXIM
Whether the Jacksonville Jaguars can win without star running back Maurice Jones Drew is one question the team hopes they don’t have to answer for a very long time. Unfortunately for the Jags and their fans they may find out the answer to that very question sooner, rather than later. The Jaguars opened their 2012 [...]
The Jacksonville Jaguars placed running back Maurice Jones-Drew on the reserve/did not report list, Scout.com reported Saturday. The Jaguars can fine Jones-Drew $30,000 for each day of camp he misses, under the NFL collective bargaining agreement. The team has said it will not renegotiate Jones-Drew's $31 million contract it agreed to three years ago. Jones-Drew has already...
Maurice Jones-Drew officially became a holdout on Thursday by not reporting for the first day of Training Camp. MJD is underpaid, making just 9.3 million combined over the next two seasons and at age 27, he’s wise to hold out for one last big payday, especially since it looks like he’ll be stuck on a losing team for at least another year. However, the Jaguars still say they have...
My position has always been if you sign a contract, you have to honor it. No one forced MJD to sign the deal he is currently in. Yes, MJD can hold out, but there isn’t anything he can really do if they Jags don’t want to redo his deal.
Personally, out of all the running backs that have begged for new deals MJD is probably the most deserving, based on the consistency of...
The Jacksonville Jaguars have activated running back Maurice Jones-Drew and waived second-year running back Keith Toston.
The Jaguars had a roster exemption for Jones-Drew, who ended a 38-day holdout last Sunday. He is expected to play in Sunday's season opener at Minnesota.
Toston, a four-year letterman at Oklahoma State, spent the 2010 season with St. Louis. He signed with...
Hot News for RB Maurice Jones-Drew
The key cog to the Jacksonville Jaguars offense is not going to report to training camp as RB Maurice Jones-Drew is demanding a new contract. Jones-Drew, 27, is the reigning rushing leader in the NFL and was the lone bright spot of a dismal Jaguars offense last season. However, he is under contract for the next two seasons and now wants another payday.
I can understand where Jones...
The Jacksonville Jaguars are imploding before the season begins in a very unremarkable fashion.
The franchise has a new coach, new owner, a new group of receivers, a young quarterback that is trying to forget the year 2011 ever happened and are missing the draft pick they gave up the world for and their one ray of light that refuses to show up without a raise.
So who should the...
Jacksonville, FL (Associate Press) - The Jacksonville Jaguars have placed running back Maurice Jones-Drew on the reserve/did not report list, an indication they don't expect their star player to show up to training camp anytime soon.
The Jaguars signed fullback Will Ta'ufo'ou to take his spot on the 90-man roster.
Ta'ufo'ou has spent time with Chicago, Cleveland...
Every NFL team will have started training camp by the time the sun sets on Sunday. Take a moment and let that sink in. Football is back. The first teams have already started their camps; the Seahawks open their camp today. We’re only about a week and a half from the first preseason game, and the day before that is the NFL Hall of Fame enshrinement ceremony. Things are starting...

This episode...
