All you NFL Draft junkies won't have to wait for the 2013 NFL Draft to get your fix. The NFL informed teams yesterday that there will be a 2012 NFL Supplemental Draft, set to be held on July 12. The 2012 NFL Supplemental Draft will be held electronically and there is a group of eligible players that should be selected. The NFL Supplemental Draft is conducted in a way that combines the 2012 NFL Draft with the 2013 NFL Draft. Teams are given choices for each round based on 2011 record, basically the 2012 NFL Draft order minus trades and compensation picks. It's a lottery system, so teams essentially bid on each player by designating what selection they are willing to use on him. The team that assigns the highest selection is awarded the player's rights. The cost of making that pick is that any team who makes a selection this year will lose their scheduled choice in that round in the 2013 NFL Draft.
