They say running backs are worth less than a dime a dozen in the NFL, and they have a point. After all, the NFL's No. 2 leading rusher this season -- Alfred Morris of the Washington Redskins -- was passed on exactly 172 times in the 2012 NFL draft. And the league's rushing touchdown leader -- Arian Foster of the Houston Texans -- wasn't even selected in the 2009 draft.
But maybe it's safer to conclude that, rather than not being valuable, great running backs are hard to find. Some, like recent 2,000-yard rushers Adrian Peterson and Chris Johnson -- are found in the first round, and some are diamonds from the rough. The abundance of late-round and undrafted backs that become studs probably means, however, that teams shouldn't make a habit of using early selections on runners.
But that doesn't mean they shouldn't commit all of the resources at their disposal to finding the next Peterson or Johnson or Morris or Foster, because despite the continued emp...

Texans running back Arian Foster bulldozed his way to 140 yards rushing Saturday in a first round win over Cincinnati.Fantasy Spin:The 32 carries Foster received were a season-high. Foster and the Texans play New England a week from Sunday. Foster was held to 46 yards on 15 rushes when he played against the Patriots earlier in the season.
HOUSTON (AP) -- Arian Foster ran for 140 yards and a touchdown, and the Houston Texans used a stifling defensive effort for a 19-13 win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday in an AFC wild-card playoff game.
The Texans will next play at New England on Jan. 13.
Foster became the first player in NFL history to have 100-yard games in each of his first three playoff games.
Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III hung around after his press conference Wednesday to prank head coach Mike Shanahan as he posed as a member of the media.
Griffin asked Shanahan, "What did you do for New Year’s?”.
Shanahan began to answer before quickly realizing it was Griffin.
"You got me by surprise there,'' Shanahan said, laughing...
Couldn't stop Arian Foster. Couldn't make that one big play when it was right at their fingertips. And, in an ending so sickeningly familiar, the Bengals couldn't break one of the NFL's longest streaks of playoff futility.
Plenty of blame to go around for this one.
Andy Dalton overthrew an open A.J. Green in the end zone in the closing minutes, and the Houston Texans...

The Washington Redskins are one of the hottest teams in the NFL right now, having reeled off seven straight victories to end the season, which clinched the NFC East Division title. Not many people had predicted them to make it where they are now, leading up to their wildcard playoff game hosting the equally hot Seattle Seahawks this Sunday...
HOUSTON -- With positive momentum long since departed and home-field advantage lost during a forgettable December, the Texans sought a fresh start on Saturday, something to erase the stench of their collapse. While their offense, led by six Pro Bowl selections, failed to deliver convincingly, the Texans welcomed the timely return of their dominating defense and outlasted the Bengals...

J.J. Watt swatted away passes, Arian Foster ran away from tacklers and the Houston Texans did just enough to knock Cincinnati out of the playoffs for the second straight year.
Matt Schaub made his postseason debut a successful one when Foster's 1-yard touchdown in third quarter helped the Texans to a 19-13 AFC wild-card playoff win over the Bengals on Saturday.
Now comes the...
After losing 2 of their final 4 games the Houston Texans have fallen from the AFC’s #1 seed to the #3 and will be playing this weekend against the Cincinnati Bengals to open the playoffs at home. Though the Texans have struggled they’ll have to forget about it quickly with the playoffs now at hand.”You have to have a short-term memory in this league. It’s more important now...

We heard your outcries. Razzball, do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light! We understand but did you have to get all dramatic like that? You could’ve just said ‘I wanna play fantasy football during the playoffs and want some rankings for it’. Sheesh. What were you, a drama geek in high school? But I digress, I’m gonna...
