Found September 30, 2013 on This Given Sunday:
After another huge victory by the Denver Broncos, we just have to start wondering; will this team go undefeated? The Broncos are led by a veteran head coach that has been there, done that, the defense is relentless, especially playing with a lead, and of course, Peyton Manning is the best in the business at cutting through opponents’ defenses like butter. In the coming days and weeks, the question of whether the Broncos will go unbeaten will get beaten to death. That being the case, and largely since we’ve already addressed that question once here at TGS, I won’t get into the unbeaten talk just yet. In a couple of months, maybe, but not now. Instead, I thought it would be a better brain exercise to consider how this season’s Broncos would fare against the 2007 Patriots. For those of you that don’t remember, the 2007 Patriots ran through the NFL season, going 16-0. They breezed through the AFC side of the playoff bracket, but when they were pitted against the New York Giants in...

Chip Kelly gets a taste of his own medicine by running up the points and he didn’t like it

During his career coaching at the University of Oregon, Chip Kelly dominated teams.  They would brutally attack football teams, and terrorize their scoreboards. While it was great on the winning side of the football game, Chip Kelly is tasting a little Karma. Today when Chip Kelly was asked about the beating they took yesterday by […]

Report: Peyton Manning’s Audibles Were Returned With Shouts of ‘Papa John’s’ from Eagles Defense

The Eagles defense became the latest victims in a long line of NFL teams unable to stop Peyton Manning from absolutely dominating on the field, but it wasn’t for a lack of creative effort on their part. The Broncos steamrolled Philadelphia 52-20, and when they failed to lay actual hits on the Denver signal caller to limit the damage, they went with a different method of attack...

Broncos and Manning continue breaking records as they soar over Eagles 52-20

The Denver Broncos and Peyton Manning continued breaking records Sunday as they defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 52-20. This was Denver’s 15th straight regular-season win, which broke the Broncos’ record of 14 set in the 1997-1998 season. Denver’s 52 points Sunday was the most in their 54-year history. This was the Broncos’ fourth consecutive blowout win. In […]

The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly: Recapping The Birds

So that wasn’t pretty. Not in the slightest. Peyton Manning and his band of merry men throttled the Eagles 52-20. On the Eagles side, there was not much good to be had. The offense didn’t look sharp, the defense was gashed (and gassed), and the special teams got burned. The Eagles stand at 1-3 with a quarter of the season gone. The question becomes, where do the Eagles go from...

The Matchups: The Birds v. The Broncos

Welcome back! It’s finally Sunday, and this week the Birds are in Denver. Now, if you’ve suffered through the endless cycle of pro-Manning propaganda as I have, you know that the Eagles have no chance. Really. They should not have left PHI. This was an expenditure that Lurie did not have to make. They stand not a chance in this endeavor. Manning is going to throw mad TDs while...

Giants counting on brotherly love to close gap in NFC East

If the New York Giants have any chance of salvaging this season, it sounds like the team believes it will have to pin their slim hopes on the broad shoulders of a Manning or two. If there was ever a good time for Giants quarterback Eli Manning to cash in on a family favor — it couldn't have come at a better time than this weekend. As the Oh-and-four Giants regroup after...

Broncos, Peyton Manning rout Eagles: ‘I enjoyed that’

The Denver Broncos rolled the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday with a 52-20 victory, setting a franchise record for most points scored in a game. With the victory, the Broncos moved to 4-0 on the season. Peyton Manning, who was taken out of the game with 22 seconds left in the third quarter,

Baltimore Ravens at Buffalo Bills: 2013 Week 4 NFL Pick

Baltimore Ravens (2-1) at Buffalo Bills (1-2) The Ravens’ season certainly got off to a rough start week 1 in Denver, as Peyton Manning tied an NFL record for touchdowns against them in a 49-27 loss. However, they bounced back at home over the past 2 weeks with a 14-6 win over Cleveland and a 30-9 win over Houston. Now this week they have to go back on the road, where life has...

Man-O-Manning NFL Week 4 Recap

We’re a month into the NFL season minus the Monday Night Football match up featuring the New Orleans Saints hosting the Miami Dolphins.  Here are my random thoughts and observations on each game. Philadelphia @ Denver   Peyton Manning doesn’t need any help but he will gladly take it.  Broncos kick returner Trindon Holliday took a kickoff to the house and Steven Johnson returned...

How are elite teams defined?

Usually in the NFL we know who the elite teams are, but sometimes we have a hard time defining exactly what that means. Do elite teams have shutdown defenses, high-octane offense and great kickers on special teams? Well, as we’ve seen this year, there’s no one qualification. The Denver Broncos, for example, are the hottest team in football. Peyton Manning is putting up touchdowns...

Eagles at Denver Broncos LIVE(FYRE) action...

Philadelphia Eagles (1-2)  vs.  Denver Broncos (3-0) September 29, 2013   4:15 P.M. EST Sports Authority Stadium (Mile High) FOX TV   94WIP Radio The Broncos are 10-point favorites in this one mostly because the pundits look at Philly's poorly-rated pass defense and they expect Peyton Manning to have possession of the ball for at least 12 series. That's a...

2013 Fantasy Football Week 4: Champs and Chumps

Quarterback Champs: Peyton Manning- 28/34, 327 yards, 4 TDs-29 fantasy pointsThis is getting a bit ridiculous because Peyton literally looks the best he’s ever looked. Every time you punt to that well-oiled machine, you might as well chalk up seven. Peyton’s got 16 TDs and 1470 yards (on pace for 5880 yards and 64 TDs) and  the Broncos are sporting a cool 45-point average...

Eagles/Broncos Verdict? Mercy Killing

Eagles 20, Broncos 52, Sunday, September 29, 2013 Why the title of this post? That was my thought when John Fox took Peyton Manning out of the game early in the fourth quarter. I mean, come on, we all knew this was going to be ugly. But this was UGLY. U-G-L-Y you ain’t got no alibi UGLY. Stud of the week: seriously, dude, I don’t even know. Everything was a mess. The offense...

A New Era® of NFL Sponsorships

Yesterday we told you about someone screaming “Papa John’s” as Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning called out an audible. Now it isn’t entirely clear who made the call, but I’d be willing to bet it was a bunch of clever Eagles defenders trying to screw with Peyton. Pretty funny, but let’s also focus on the economic issue in play here: a company inadvertently received free...

Seattle shakes off road stigma with dramatic comeback

The Seattle Seahawks have proverbially shaken off their detractors with a nothing-than-dramatic comeback victory in overtime against the Houston Texans.Russell Wilson and Seattle have been the media darling of the NFL this season, along with the Denver Broncos and Peyton Manning, but one thing that critics and analyst have repeatedly pointed out is the difference between Seattle...
