The 49ers just traded for Colt McCoy to be a backup quarterback to Colin Kaepernick, but wouldn't Vince Young have been a better fit as his size, arm strength and style of play more closely matches Kaepernick's?  I know that coaches have had a problem with Young in the past but the comparison does make one wonder.Does Tyler Wilson remind anyone of a younger Tony Romo?Does Markus Wheaton remind anyone of Victor Cruz?  Same size, speed and play-making ability.Chris Harper, WR, Kansas State, has drawn comparisons to Anquan Boldin, as is similar in size and in using his body to shield defenders from the ball. Bolding was a second round draft choice while Harper is considered to be a 3rd or 4th rounder, possibly because of a very deep WR class. If Eric Fisher is that much better of an athlete than Luke Joeckel does that mean that he has more of an upside? Same for Lane Johnson?Travis Kelce missed the Senior Bowl and then missed the Cincinnati pro day due to an injury but then very quietly had his own workout where he posted 4.62 and 4.65 forties, 35 Vertical, 10'4" Broad Jump, 7.12 Three Cone Drill and 4.47 Short Shuttle, all impressive numbers. Since the forty times are not electronically timed as at the combine it may not be fair to compare to the other tight ends at the combine, but these times are still impressive. Kelce has only had one full year at tight end but as the 2012 season progressed, he got better at blocking, better at receiving and better at running after the catch. He is good enough to start for some teams right now and if his improvement continues in the upward trajectory he started in 2012, he will develop into a top flight tight end.If healthy, Knile Davis is far and away the best running back in this draft. Acceleration and cutting ability as well as receiving and running after the catch ability would put him in the "Star" category, BUT it is all dependent upon his injury situation. And yes, even better than a healthy Marcus Lattimore, based upon Knile's 4.35 speed. Ten yard split (1.49) acceleration and pass catching ability. The 1.49 Ten Yard Split was second at the combine, second only to Ontario McCalebb, who is only 168 pounds. If the Jets are unable to trade their No. 9 pick back in the first round, it would seem that they have to take Chance Warmack, the top rated OG from Alabama. One starting guard in Matt Slauson has already left in Free Agency and the other starting guard, Brandon Moore, attempting to leave but not generating any interest. The rule of thumb si to not take a guard with a top ten pick, but here it is a necessity and Warmack is the top OG on the board and maybe the beat in a few years. If per chance, Chance it taken, they might opt for Johnathan Cooper, OG, North Carolina, or OT Lane Johnson, with the idea of putting him at ROT and eventually moving him to LOT. The Jets offense was much worse than the defense last year and now has been futher weakened with the OG's departing so this leads me to conclude that the Offensive Line is not just a priority but a necessity.Troy Polamalu is listed in the Steelers' guide as 5-10, 207 pounds, while Matt Elam is listed on the Florida roster as 5-10, 210. Polamalu was drafted with the 16th pick in the first round in 2003. In the 2013 draft the Steelers have the 17th pick in the first round. Hmm....Zach Rogers and T.J. Moe may not get drafted in large part because their forty times are not in the elite category and their size and production may not have been outstanding to date; but in the least will be signed as Undrafted Free Agents. But if one checks their results in the 3 Cone drill and 20 yard Short Shuttle one would find that they would be at the top (Moe) or near the top (Rogers) of the charts. At his pro day, Rogers, who was not invited to the Combine, outdid the times of Cordarrelle Patterson, Justin Hunter and Da'Rick Rogers in the short shuttle and 3 cone drill. T.J. Moe was at the combine and his numbers are opposite ends of the spectrum as his forty time at the combine was 4.74 and at his pro day his best forty was 4.60, BUT, his 3 cone time of 6.53 and short shuttle time of 3.96 were better than any at the combine including Marquise Goodwin and Tavon Austin (who only did the short shuttle). By way of comparison, Wes Welker and Danny Amendola were Undrafted Free Agents as well, as their forty times were not up to speed. The three cone drill and 20 yard short shuttle times would indicate that these players should be considered for Slot Receiver roles such as Wes Welker and Danny Amendola play. The Patriots have a signed offer sheet from Emmanuel Sanders, WR of the Steelers, who last year had career highs in receptions (44) and yards (626). That averages out to 14.2 yards per catch and he had 1 TD with a 37 yarder his longest play.He is 5-11 and 180 pounds and originally a 3rd round draft choice out of SMU, and his time with the Steelers was slowed by knee and foot injuries and he was the 3rd or 4th receiver on a team with Mike Wallace, Antonio Brown and Jerricho Cotchery. The Steelers have 5 days to match the offer which will be difficult as they are in a cap bind (editor's note: the Steelers did match the offer), so if he goes to the Pats they will give the Steelers their 3rd round pick in this draft, leaving the Pats with an all-time low four draft choices, 1 2 and two 7's. Is he worth it to the Pats? His size and his production to date would not indicate that he is, especially with the Pats being draft choice deficient. The Pats must be betting that his time in Pittsburgh was held back by being on the same team as Wallace and Brown, and that the Pats are in a win now mode, not wanting to wait for rookies to develop. As the draft looks now, the 3rd rounder (97) could have produced one of the following WR's: Ryan Swope from Texas A&M, or Chris Harper of Kansas State, or Josh Boyce of TCU, or Cobi Hamilton of Arkansas, all with interesting skill sets.
