Cordarrelle Patterson made the most of his one season in Knoxville as he came to Tennessee as a 5 star recruit from Hutchinson Community College in Kansas.  Patterson started his college career playing his freshman year of football at North Carolina Tech Christian Academy, but did not stay for a second year before transferring to Hutchinson CC for 2011.  Patterson’s one season with the Volunteers was outstanding as he was involved in rushing, catching and returning punts and kickoffs for a total of 1,858 yards and 10 touchdowns.  His tall 6’3” body and his ability to do many things will make him very popular in the draft. The Positive: Physical route runner that isn’t afraid of contact, has good size and will go up and fight for the ball. Patterson has tremendous upside, but needs work in a lot of areas. Plays with great athleticism and explosive playmaking ability, could be the first receiver taken in draft. He shields defenders away from the ball well and shows above-average hands to bring in tough receptions. The Negative: Patterson needs to work on being precise in his route-running. He will play out of control at times and will try to do too much with the ball in his hands. He has shown tendencies he can be a little reckless and will have to learn how to play fast without getting out of control. Patterson will need to demonstrate better field awareness.
