2023 NFL Free Agency: Foyesade Oluokun Endorses Ezekiel Elliott to the Jaguars
USA TODAY Sports

While the Jacksonville Jaguars haven't been overly active during the opening stages of the free period, that hasn't stopped their players from doing their part to recruit stars looking for new teams.

While Tyson Campbell pitched in recruiting efforts with Darius Slay, inside linebacker Foyesade Oluokun took to social media this week to advocate for the Jaguars to add his former high school teammate in Ezekiel Elliott.

Selected by Dallas with the No. 4 pick in the 2016 NFL Draft,, Elliott led the league in carries and yards that year and in 2018. Injuries have mounted for Elliott in recent seasons, leading to career lows in carries (231) and yards (876) last season.

But the Jaguars could have a potential need at running back alongside Travis Etienne, even with the re-signing of JaMycal Hasty. The Jaguars lacked a true power element to their short-yardage running game at times last season, an area Elliott would surely provide an upgrade in.

The slight issue, however, could be that Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson has already described what he is looking for in future running back additions. Elliott, for as productive and talented as he is, doesn't exactly match the description.

"I think in today’s game you’ve got to have two to three guys. They’ve got to be able to carry the load. You’re talking about a 18-week, 17-game schedule and the postseason. It’s wear and tear on guys," Pederson said at the NFL Scouting Combine earlier this month.

We haven’t seen enough of Snoop Conner yet either, but we like him. We know what JaMycal (Hasty) can do. We obviously know what TJ, Etienne, can do. You’re always looking to have two, three, four guys that can work the rotation at any given time. The last thing I’ll say is I like him to play special teams as well, so that’s a big part of the, I think the impact of a running back is being able to play special teams."
