20 Safeties Who Will Do it Big This Year!!!

Posted August 29, 2008 on BookerT's Blog:
This is a list not on ranking because I dont want to deal with nonsense coming from people about their hometowns players. I put 20 safeties that I think will be the most productive out of all the safeties in the league....If I missed some go ahead and argue but these are safeties that I consider good enough to cause havoc when they are out in the field smacking the hell out of runningbacks and recievers.... ALSO I Posted this prior TO ED Reeds New Health Update with the Nerve Damage in Neck and Shoulder So leave me alone on that....Im still leaving him on here because this probably the last shout out for him on any safeties list for this year....Hes probably going to get surgery in the near future and this might by his last year as a pro, I dont know....Ed Reed best of luck to you..... Enjoy and keep it peaceful.......Heavy Hitters I took some quotes from stuff for some safeties, for others I just got lazy....... :"""BWEST4Prez""""---> Nice list....actually not at all. All this list is, is a list of the 16 or so best safties in the league (obviously in no particular order) and you threw in a bunch of washed-up has been safeties...And if you really think Michael Lewis is anything more than mediocre at best, you shouldnt even be making lists, he was traded, he was cut, for good reason in case you dont watch football. And Roy Wiliiams, a player on the verge of getting cut?? oooookay. 1) I like the sarcasm 2) Captain Obvious could have pointed out that these are the 16 best safeties...WELL DUh who would I put, Mike Doss and Kwame Lassiter!! 3) Micheal Lewis was cut because of his horrible coverage, Considine and Mikell is what Eagles have now....Lewis has done well since he left....Considine and Mikell are the future for your team 4) I'm sorry Im not a nerd like you in football...if you have pride for that good for you I dont care..... 5) If you want to know how teams win championships, ill send you my NY Giants Superbowl DVD..... 6) Roy Williams is not getting cut, do you know football? Your Eagles bias is beyond ludicrous, get on an article where all you eagles groupies are, Your not welcome here clown....

    Ed Reed (I Kno)

something tells me He might be Defensive Player of the Year!! (HAHAHA THEIR GOES THAT PICK, ED REED MIGHT BE DONE FOR CAREER, didnt know that till 646 PM Deweys Article to be precise, BoY was I WRONg, whatever IM STill leaving him up here cuz hes Ed Reed) Everybody always tells me, you better watch your back cause Ed will take your candy," Ravens cornerback Frank Walker said. "Ed can sneak up you. We were out there today and my man was on a comeback (pattern). I'm breaking up on the ball and I see Ed fly by. 'Where you come from, man?' He's everywhere. I always heard stories about how Ed Reed makes plays, and now I'm out here witnessing it."

    Brian Dawkins

the critics will say his washed up or tooo old....being a Giants fan, this dude is fun to watch and barring any injury he could lead every stat category for Safeties....Ed Reed my first fav safety than Dawkins than Gibril Wilson ha....

  • 3
    Bob Sanders

Defensive pLayer of Year last year....definetely will not repeat......

  • 4
    Troy Polamalu

best blitzing safety in Nfl....does he ever get touched when he blitzes....besides that he can cover the whole field, and that hairdoo is eccentric.....

  • 5
    Adrian Wilson

if healthy the sky is the limit for him......he even said, "I feel I am the best safety in the league, arguably,"

  • 6
    Kerry Rhodes

"I pride myself in being a complete player," Rhodes said. "There are some safeties in this league that can only cover and some other safeties who can only tackle or play in the box. I want to be known as one of those all-around guys that can do it all." And he certainly is. He had 68 tackles, two sacks and five interceptions last season, and has the most sacks among NFL defensive backs in the past two seasons with seven. Most of all, he's a huge game-planning headache for opposing offences. (FROM ARTICLE)

    Gibril Wilson

lots of critics label him as overpaid....but is it his fault his contract ended this past year and he was the anchor for the mercurial DB's for my Superbowl winning Giants.... Fact: Wilson's 284 solo tackles since entering the NFL in 2004 are the most of any safety during that span. (Tackles are not a bogus stat) Raiders Writer: (Preseason Game against Cardinals) just for some unbias evidence:::: How he manages to be up in the hole stuffing the running back so often blows my mind. How he can read the play, get to the hole so quickly and then smack the running back in the mouth is something to behold. I counted at least five stuffs on running backs in the first half alone. Oh GOD thank you for bringing us Gibril Wilson. Oh and I suppose thank you too Al Davis.

    Laron Landry

This kid can play for the Redskins....at 23 yrs old hes doing what the late Sean Taylor did......Now imagine if Taylor and Landry were together, tht be nasty,,RIP Sean Taylor

  • 9
    Donte Whitner

Yardbarkers own.....Guarantees a playoff spot for Bills..Im all for that confidence....Dudes really good....

  • 10
    Atari Bigby

I dont know of him that much , but after seeing him in the playoffs, this dude can hit and tackle....Now his pass coverage is questionable?

  • 11
    Dawan Landry

Brother of Laron ...... A fifth-round pick in 2006, Landry carved out a successful rookie campaign with 89 tackles, three sacks and a NFL rookie-best five interceptions. Last season, Landry registered a career-high 91 tackles, but collected just one sack and zero interceptions. "It's just the ups and downs of the season in the league," he said. "You can't lean on what you did in the past. You've got to keep building each and every year. You never know what the stats are. I don't try to look into the stats or anything. I just try to go out there and give it my all."

  • 12
    Mike Brown

    Bears Safety....If healthy _______?

  • 13
    Micheal Huff

Counterpart with Gibril Wilson....Texas produces good safeties.....Whats the dude from Tennessee, I see him doing well this year too...

  • 14
    Ko Simpson

Whitners counterpart safety for the Bills....Last yr suffered season ending ankle injury...but yr before held his ground with Donte....Going to be a nice tandem in Ko and Donte....Mark my words hahah....

  • 15
    Lawyer Milloy

At 35...he might have lost a step but really is a solid safety.....

  • 16
    Jermaine Phillips

Bucs safety...not many know of him but dude can play

  • 17
    Roy Williams

All Right as a fan for his off the field charity, his on field game is often comical for a NFC east fan.....One of the best hitters but man, does he get beat on passing plays.....Santana Moss, Plaxico Burress, Amani Toomer....I might post some videos on him getting burned.....That being said I hope the best for him this season becasue hes not that bad of a safety....

  • 18
    Darren Sharper

He somehow gets so many interceptions....But its not his fault Eli Manning has a crush on him.....

  • 19
    Bernard Pollard

    KFC chief up in here.....

  • 20
    Rodney Harrison

David Tyree posterized you....that being said still a good safety....
