Found September 08, 2012 on Blitzburgh Blog:

Every year, I try and throw together some "bold" predictions before the season starts. These are usually random, sometimes funny and - if I'm lucky - even a little bit accurate. Here are 20 from 2011, 89 from 2010 and 21 from 2009.

Below are 21 for the 2012 season. Enjoy.

1. Jonathan Dwyer starts at least 2 games in 2012.

2. Rashard Mendenhall ends up with twice as many rushing yards both Dwyer and Isaac Redman.

3. Chris Rainey is on IR by Week 8

4. Antonio Brown ends up with more yards and TDs than Mike Wallace, to nobody's surprise.

5. Ben Roethlisberger only starts 13 games due to injury.

6. James Harrison only starts 8.

7. Todd Haley is ridiculed on Twitter before the 10:00 mark of the first quarter in Denver.

8. Casey Hampton rarely sees the field by season's end and Steve McLendon becomes firmly entrenched as the starter.

9. Big Ben tosses 22 TDs and 11 interceptions.

10. Cleveland finishes 4-12. Weeden is awful, gets hurt.

11. Chris Carter is a starting LB by season's end.

12. The offensive line unit plays all 16 games together and provides solid protection for Roethlisberger.

13. Just kidding.

14. Cincinnati finishes 8-8. AJ Green is a total beast.

15. Lawrence Timmons leads the team in tackles and helps solidify the inside of the defense.

16. Pittsburgh finishes 10-6. Injuries suck. Wild Card.

17. Aaron Rodgers wins the MVP.

18. Baltimore finishes 12-4. Ray Rice dominates.

19. David DeCastro gets healthy and becomes a starter. Mike Adams doesn't.

20. Super Bowl: Green Bay over New England.

21. The "woooo" makes its triumphant entrance to Heinz Field during the 3rd quarter of the Dec. 30 game against the Browns.

Ben Roethlisberger would rather miss a game than miss his baby being born

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has made it clear that he’s willing to miss a game this season if it conflicts with the birth of his baby. “I’m not missing the birth of my child,” Roethlisberger said emphatically, per the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “There’s no chance. I know some fans probably don’t want to hear that, but there’s no chance.” Roethlisberger...

Pittsburgh Steelers: James Harrison Ruled Out For Sunday

James Harrison Ruled Out For Sunday’s Game - Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Pittsburgh Steelers LB James Harrison did not practice for second day in a row and will not suit up for Sunday nights regular season opener against the Broncos in Denver. Harrison has been experiencing soreness in his knee, and according to Dulac, LB Chris Carter will continue...

Isaac Redman Will Start For Pittsburgh

Isaac Redman will start at running back for Pittsburgh, according to ESPN. Fantasy Spin: Rashard Mendenhall is still recovering from his ACL surgery. While Redman gets the start, Jon Dwyer is still going to be heavily involved in backfield, and Redman is not a stable fantasy start. And Dwyer may actually be the better bet for production.

Steelers' James Harrisson wont speak to the media until Friday

The Pittsburgh Steelers will open the season Sunday night against the Denver Broncos, but the status of one of their best players on defense remains unclear. All-Pro linebacker James Harrison was limited in practice Wednesday and did not practice on Thursday, according to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette. Harrison was officially activated by the Steelers last week after...

James Harrison may not play this week

According to Gerry Dulac of, Steelers linebacker James Harrison was held out of practice on Thursday and may not play in Sunday night’s opener against the Broncos. “Steelers OLB James Harrison did not practice today and his status for the Broncos game is uncertain,” wrote Dulac. The Steelers have been planning on Harrison being ready for this week. “The Steelers...

Roethlisberger throws late pick in 31-19 loss

Late in the game. Down six. Length of the field to go. Usually, this is a situation in which Ben Roethlisberger shines. This time, it was a moment he would rather forget. Roethlisberger tried to thread a pass into a receiver and was intercepted by cornerback Tracy Porter, who returned it for a game-sealing 43-yard touchdown as the Denver Broncos beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 31...

Q&A: James Harrison

James Harrison won't talk to most of the media until Friday, but he talked to Jim Wexell on Thursday. Here's the Q&A, along with a note on Rashard Mendenhall's rehab and contract status.

Steelers Head Into 2012 Season With Questionable Linebacker Group

The Pittsburgh Steelers head into the 2012 season with huge question marks at one of their most important position groups on defense, and I am of course talking about the linebacker group. Starting right outside linebacker James Harrison is all but ruled out for the Sunday night opener in Denver and that means that second year linebacker Chris Carter will likely make his first...

The Steelers will attempt to get revenge on the Broncos’ for last year’s playoff defeat this week.
