Found May 22, 2012 on Buffalo Wins:
"One second.... All he had to do was snap the ball. (Rewind) One second... How can you not snap the ball? (Rewind) One second..." That's the way Fred Smerlas described Chuck Knox a few days after the Bills lost to the Cincinnati Bengals in the 1981 AFC Divisional playoffs. In Fred's book, By a Nose, he described walking into a room that resembled a serial killer's lair (dark film room), where Knox had been replaying the play in which Joe Ferguson didn't snap the ball in time to beat the play clock. Trailing, 28-21, with less than 3 minutes remaining in the game and the Bills facing a 4th and 3 at the Bengals 20-yard line, the Bills had to get a 1st down to extend the game and drive. Here's how Sports Illustrated described what happened next: Buffalo drove to the Bengal 20 where, on fourth-and-three, with 2:58 left, it took a time-out. Then with the 30-second clock ticking and the Bills still huddling, wide receivers Lou Piccone and Ron Jes...

Green embracing high expectations

CINCINNATI - There was a time last fall when Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green, still very much a kid, found himself standing in a late-night line of a couple hundred to buy the new shoot-em-up video game that was hitting the shelves. Green remained relatively anonymous to the other gamers. By last December and January, with the Bengals scrambling to secure a playoff berth and ultimately...

Bengals not completely comfortable with Andy Dalton?

Andy Dalton fell to the 2nd round and was the 5th quarterback off the board in the 2011 NFL Draft because of his lack of arm strength. Dalton showed as a rookie that he has enough arm strength to get by, leading the Bengals to the playoffs with a record of 9-7. However, according to NFL Films’ Greg Cosell, the Bengals do have some doubts about Dalton and say there are some things...

Bengals’ Devon Still lining up at multiple positions in practice

The Bengals drafted Devon Still in the 2nd round of the 2012 NFL Draft not so much because he filled a need, but because he was a value pick. Especially after the Bengals used another draft pick, their 3rd rounder, on a defensive tackle in Brandon Thompson, it was unclear how the Bengals planned to use their defensive lineman this year. Defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer loves rotation...

Bengals’ Leon Hall may not be ready for the start of the season

When Leon Hall tore his Achilles last November, he was given a 9-12 month recovery. Now, it’s sounding like it will be closer to 12. He has yet to be medically cleared to practice at all for OTAs and some are speculating that he could begin the season on the PUP list. Hall is the Bengals best cover cornerback and was rewarded with a 5 year, 42 million dollar extension just 2 months...

Bengals’ Dontay Moch suspended

The Bengals drafted Dontay Moch in the 3rd round last year as an athletic edge rusher who could potentially play a joker role for them. However, he has yet to get on the field after missing all of last season with injury. Now he’s suffered another setback, a 4 game suspension from the league for testing posting for an undisclosed illegal substance. He will appeal. The Bengals already...

Brandon Tate also a candidate for the Bengals’ #2 receiver job

The Bengals failed to resign their #2 receiver, Jerome Simpson, this offseason as he had been arrested in a drug related incident and was facing league suspension. Simpson is now with the Vikings and will start the season with a 3 game suspension, while the Bengals are seemingly holding open auditions for Simpson’s old role opposite AJ Green. The Bengals drafted Mohamed Sanu in...

Revisiting the O-Line

It was less than two weeks ago that I took a look at the offensive line, and since then there have been a number of changes. Several guys are gone, and new guys have taken their places. So the group warrants another look so we can stay current with the updates. Offensive Line Starter On The Roster Camp Battle Cut Andrew Whitworth Andre Smith Travelle Wharton Kevin Zeitler...

Terrell Owens: Back To The Bay Area'?

In a weird twist, it now appears as if beggars can be choosers. Terrell Owens, who is coming off of two knee surgeries, and an infamous stint with the UBL Allen Wranglers, has said publicly where he’d like to play football next season – and no, it isn’t playing center for the newly formed World Bikini Football League (although who wouldn't want that job). Apparently...

Bengals linebacker Dontay Moch on suspension: mistakes happen

NFL Insider Jason La Canfora tweeted Saturday night that Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Dontay Moch will be suspended four games for the 2012 regular season for using a banned substance. The suspension is pending an appeal and there's no updates or reports what the substance could be. Either way we have to suspect that Moch's future with the team is somewhat suspect right...
