Evan’s 2 Guys to Watch

The Guy I Do Like: Ronnie Brown, San Diego Chargers

The Oakland Raiders struggled stopping the run in 2011 allowing over 5 yards per carry and 15 rushing TDs. Without a pick in the first 2 rounds of this year’s draft, Oakland was unable to get an impact player to help their defense meaning that San Diego should ave a chance to move the ball fairly easily on the ground on Monday night. With Ryan Mathews hurting, Ronnie Brown will be the guy who sees the bulk of the work for the Chargers meaning he should be an easy start for you in Week 1. Expect Brown to get over 20 touches which should equate to 100 total yards while a trip to the end zone should be considered likely.

The Guy I Do Not Like: Sidney Rice, Seattle Seahawks

Despite the fact that he put up awful numbers in his first season in Seattle, fantasy owners still seem pretty high on Sidney Rice (most draft sites have him among the top 120 players selected). Owners were obviously not scared away by the fact that Seattle brought in several past-their-prime veterans in Braylon Edwards and Terrell Owens to try to help their weak passing game. If you happen to be one of those owners who ended with Rice on draft day, make sure you find a spot on your bench for Sidney Rice on the 2 weekends that the Seahawks face the Arizona Cardinals. Patrick Peterson grew immensely as a rookie, and although comparisons to Darrelle Revis may be a bit much, there is no denying that with his size, speed, and physicality, he should have no trouble shutting down a receiver of Sidney Rice’s caliber. When you also factor in that Seattle rookie quarterback Rusell Wilson will be seeing his first regular season action ever, you cannot expect Sidney Rice to surpass 40 yards receiving without a trip to the endzone.

Frank’s 2 Guys To Watch

The Guy I Do Like: Ben Tate, Houston Texans

Yeah, I know Arian Foster is the starter, but this match up of the Texans and Dolphins might be over by halftime. What that means is Ben Tate could get quite a few carries as the Texans bleed the clock in the 2nd half of Sunday’s game. Call it a hunch, but I call it 70 yards and a touchdown.

The Guy I Do Not Like: Santonio Holmes, New York Jets

I’m not worried about Buffalo’s revamped defensive unit as I am about the offensive problems the Jets have been showing. Sanchez doesn’t inspire much confidence and there isn’t a whole a lot around Holmes to allow him to get free. I don’t think he gets more than 60 yards in this one and he doesn’t hit pay dirt either.

Why Nate Kaeding should scare the hell out of Chargers fans

Nate Kaeding of the San Diego Chargers knows what I’m talkin’ about. Don’tcha Nate? Of course he does, except for the fact that he doesn’t. Fantasy Football: These TE’s are the best of the rest

Okay, so the ‘sexy six’ Tight Ends are all off the board; Graham, Gronkowski, Davis, Hernandez, Pettigrew, and Witten. Not what do you do? First don’t panic and settle for the two ‘old’ standbys, Tony Gonzalez and Antonio Gates. Gonzo will probably revert back to his 2010 numbers, especially if the Falcons can’t get any [...]

Five Things to Watch: Helping Harris

AFC West Preview: Is the addition of Peyton a deal breaker for the Chargers?

Predicated Finish: San Diego Chargers (9-7) (4th seed:  loss in first round) Oakland Raider (7-9) Denver Broncos (7-9) Kansas City Chiefs (7-9) Depending on your definition, this is the NFL’s worst conference, inasmuch as there is not one legitimate playoff team in the mix.  I have San Diego winning it by default, but that has a lot more to do with the schedule...
