Found February 07, 2013 on Cleveland Sports 360:
For days there have been multiple articles saying the Browns may have been interested in acquiring Michael Vick. The news was bothersome to some football fans who think Vick is in a serious decline. If the Eagles intended in getting rid of the aging quarterback with a multitude of head injuries, you would think they would have released him before paying him a 3 million dollar bonus yesterday. Vick was due to receive a bonus if he remained on the team’s roster on Feb. 6th. He was still there and he got his 3 million dollars. Now nothing surprises me when it comes to the NFL. The reports that said Vick could come to Cleveland because of his ties to Banner could be wrong and me thinking that handing Vick 3 million dollars is enough to keep him on the Eagles could be wrong too. NFL teams seem to have disposable income all the time. There is still plenty of time to do something with Vick, lets just hope what ever they do with him doesn’t include him coming to Cleveland for anything than ...

NFL Rumor: Browns do not consider Colt McCoy a ‘viable starting option’

In his latest column, long-time Cleveland Plain Dealer columnist Terry Pluto says that the Cleveland Browns do not consider former starter Colt McCoy a “viable starting option” for the vertical offense employed by newly hired head coach Rob Chudzinski. Wherein both McCoy and last year’s starter Brandon Weeden were shoe-horned into the West Coast under-center offense, Pluto...

Ben Watson, Mohammed Massaquoi listed as free agents not likely to return

In the wake of the release of veteran defensive end and all-around decent guy Frostee Rucker earlier this week, ESPNClevland’s Tony Grossi speculated as to what unsigned, unrestricted free agents are unlikely to be back in Cleveland for the start of the Joe Banner era. The most notable may be the fan favorites in Phil Dawson and Joshua Cribbs, but former second-round draft pick...

Browns Notes: Colt McCoy, Mohamed Massaquoi, Ben Watson

Colt McCoy Terry Pluto of the Cleveland Plain Dealer “hears” that the Browns new front office doesn’t see QB Colt McCoy as “a viable starting option” moving forward. McCoy took the backseat to rookie QB Brandon Weeden this season, but the rookie didn’t exactly have the greatest first year in the league. McCoy is still a young quarterback who could be a serviceable...

Browns Make A Move But Still Haven’t Resigned Phil Dawson & Josh Cribbs Yet

The Browns made a change to their rooster yesterday to avoid paying out a 2 million dollar rooster bonus. The team still hasn’t resigned kicker Phil Dawson and wide receiver/special teams stand out Josh Cribbs yet. Many are wondering if the Browns are going to let Phil Dawson walk. Dawson has been the only Cleveland Browns player to be on the teams rooster since they have been...

Brandon Weeden welcomes the chance to compete: “I expect competition”

Brandon Weeden wasn’t born yesterday, and he knows his future is tied to what he does this off-season. Weeden also knows that there will be someone next to him ready to take the starting quarterback job.  He'ss in a tough situation, where there is more to lose, while gaining what he already had.

Browns release DE Frostee Rucker

The Browns have released defensive end Frostee Rucker after one season. A top free-agent signing by Cleveland last year, Rucker is the first casualty of the team switching from a 4-3 to multi-front defensive scheme under first-year coach Rob Chudzinski. Rucker made $6 million last season, when he started all 16 games and finished with 48 tackles and four sacks. Rucker was due to...

Browns Defense Faces Its First Casualty, Frostee Rucker Cut To Save The Team A 2 Million Dollar Bonus.

The Cleveland Browns defense took a hit today, the team cut Frostee Rucker the guy that former GM Tom Heckert brought in from the Cincinnati Bengals. If Rucker was on the Browns rooster tomorrow morning it would have coast the team a 2 million dollar rooster bonus. Rucker had a decent season for the Browns. He 29 tackles, 19 assists and 4 sacks for the Browns in the 2012 season....

What moves should the Browns make in free agency?

There is no question that there is a pretty sizable gap between the upper echelon of the NFL and the Browns. The roster as currently constructed is very young but the Browns could make some judicious moves that could help them speed up the process quicker and give them a shot to make a push for the playoffs in 2013. Jimmy Haslam and Joe Banner said they arent going to make moves...

For one, we know who will be the defensive coordinator for the next era of Eagles football. According to CSNPhilly, Billy Davis, who most recently was the linebackers coach for the Cleveland Browns, will step into the position. So...

Report: Eagles Hire Billy Davis As Defensive Coordinator

Geoff Mosher reports that a source has informed him that the Eagles have hired Billy Davis as their next defensive coordinator. Davis spent the past two season with the Cleveland Browns as their linebackers coach. He has also worked as a defensive coordinator for the Cardinals and 49ers in the past and has experience running both 4-3 and 3-4 base defenses, but it’s pretty clear...
