Found August 27, 2011 on Dolphins Gab:

The Dolphins go into tonight’s preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers giving us mixed signals in the previous two games. While our starters looked dreadful against the Falcons starters during the first exhibition game, they looked like a team that could surprise all of the critics and contend for a playoff spot this year against the Panthers in last weeks game.

So in tonight’s regular season tuneup, where we will see the starters most likely play up until the fourth quarter, we should get a basis on exactly where our team stands. The Bucs are shaping up to be one of the top up and coming teams in the league this year, and will be a solid challenge for tonight’s matchup. But who exactly should we be watching tonight? Read below, and I’ll explain who needs to be paid extra attention to tonight.

3. Mike Pouncey: So far in camp we have heard that Pouncey has done a solid job in practices, as well as games, but we have also heard rumblings of problems snapping the ball. Tonight Pouncey will be going against Gerald McCoy, who is no slouch. This will be my basis on whether or not Pouncey can hold up against quality NFL competition.

2. Reggie Bush: Was last week a tease? Is all of the hype surrounding Reggie and his work ethic simply that-hype? We know what Bush brings to the table, but the question is whether or not he can perform on a consistent basis. Tonight we should also see a little more creativity in how offensive coordinator Brian Daboll uses Bush.

1. Chad Henne: Was there ever any doubt that Henne would be #1? This team has numerous playmakers and a top ten defense. So for the Fins to go to the playoffs, it will have to be Henne that elevates his game to take us there. He had a solid outing last week and did not turn the ball over during the first half that he played. If he can show that he can put together two straight solid games, it’s yet another step in the diff direction for our (for now) franchise quarterback.

The Bucs will provide the Fins with solid competition, and will give us a good idea of where we stand heading into Week 1 against the Patriots. Overall I’m looking for the whole team to show me something tonight. For the whole offense and defense to make plays. But I have watched this team long enough to know that during any game, there are numerous highs, as well as numerous lows, so I’m expecting to see some things I do not like tonight, some things that teams can use to expose us. But if we can come out on top, that will show me that our team can be one of the top teams in the league this year.
