The 49?ers officially signed veteran offensive tackle Barry Sims on Thursday. Terms of the deal were not released, but the "Santa Rosa Press-Democrat" says Sims signed a two-year pact. Sims was set to make 4.5-million-dollars in base salary this season with Oakland, but was released at the start of free agency. The 33-year-old has spent his entire nine-year career with the Raiders and has started in all 16 games in four of the last five seasons. Overall, Sims has made 119 starts in 136 career games.

It is being reported that a second suspect in the Javon Walker Las Vegas mugging has been taken in by police.
Police say 40-year-old Deshawn Thomas was arrested Monday in Las Vegas on kidnapping, robbery and conspiracy charges.
He is accused of beating and robbing the Oakland Raiders wide receiver June 16 and leaving him unconscious on a side street near the Las Vegas Strip.

More than a month ago it looked like running back LaMont Jordan's career in Oakland was officially over. He didn't participate in the team's last minicamp practice because head coach Lane Kiffin had informed him that the team was moving on without him.
I took that to mean that the Raiders would either trade or release Jordan, but here we are, eight days into July...

It's popular around these parts to see the glass as half full. With the first preseason game a month from today (August 8 against the 49ers), there's more "ifs, ands, & buts" around the Raider Nation than in Conjunction Junction.
