49ers announce roster moves ahead of Sunday's game with the Bengals
Stan Szeto-USA TODAY Sports

The San Francisco 49ers have announced the elevation of two players from the practice squad to the active roster for Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Wide receiver Willie Snead and cornerback Kendall Sheffield are both being promoted and will be available to play on Sunday.

Snead, the ninth-year pro, is being elevated for the second time this season. In week 4, Snead played against the Arizona Cardinals. He had one catch for nine yards. In 2022, Sneed played in only four games and had zero catches for the 49ers. He spent his first six seasons with the New Orleans Saints and the Baltimore Ravens.

Sheffield is being promoted for the third time this season. He was also active in week 4, recording three tackles, including a tackle for loss. Sheffield appeared in the week 5 game against the Dallas Cowboys but had no tackles. Sheffield is in his first season with the 49ers but was with the Atlanta Falcons for three seasons prior.

Snead will play on special teams in addition to being a fifth wide receiver. Sheffield will be used as a special teams player and a backup cornerback. Last week, the 49ers elevated cornerback Shemar Jean-Charles and wide receiver Chris Conley.

The 49ers look to break a two-game losing streak and improve to 6-2 heading into the bye week.
