(Eds: APNewsNow. Will be updated. AP Photos. With AP Photos.) By JANIE McCAULEY AP Sports Writer San Francisco's defense has a little inside game of its own going on in practice each week: ''Takeaway Thursday.'' Force as many turnovers as possible to prepare for more of the same come Sunday. Linebacker NaVorro Bowman claims his unit had nine turnovers during one such session recently - though quarterback Alex Smith begs to differ, calling that number inflated. The total hardly matters, it's the principle. 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh isn't keeping track, though he loves the intense competition by his players leading up to games - and he's certainly thrilled that his defense delivered with an interception and forced the New York Jets into three lost fumbles in Sunday's 34-0 win at the Meadowlands. The dominant performance kept the Jets out of the red zone all day.

Through the first four weeks of the NFL regular season, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Randy Moss has failed to live up to once again live up to the hype. This happened when he was waived and then picked up by both the Vikings and Titans during the 2010 season and this season is the same saga. Moss simply doesn’t look like the dominant wide receiver that he once was. Moss...

49ers defense suffocates inept Jets

The San Francisco 49ers are everything Rex Ryan wishes his New York Jets were. San Francisco used a solid running game, a smothering defense, a little bit of the wildcat-style offense and even blocked a punt to cruise to a 34-0 victory Sunday. That's exactly the type of team the Jets coach was hoping to build. Instead, Ryan had to watch it from the other sideline as the 49ers...
