San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke with reporters via a conference call on Monday, the day after his team's fifth consecutive win, and provided some injury updates.
The biggest 49ers injury news from Sunday's 33-17 victory over the Miami Dolphins was the loss of Jimmy Garoppolo. The quarterback will undergo season-ending surgery on the broken foot he suffered in the 49ers offense's first drive.
"He'll do a lot of testing," Shanahan said. "He's got to talk to some foot specialists. I don't really have any new information on that but the same as what I told you guys yesterday."
How severe is the damage? Has the coach heard anything about it possibly being a Lisfranc injury?
"That's why they're still trying to work through it," Shanahan explained. "They were talking about that a lot last night, but it seems like they're starting to believe that it isn't. So that is good news, but it's not all for sure done yet. Some specialists have got to finalize it, so we don't want to give you guys any false information. But they're discussing all those things. We're feeling like it's starting to get better than that, so we'll see when we get the official information."
Defensive tackle Hassan Ridgeway exited Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins in the fourth quarter and left for the locker room to be examined. Later, the team announced that Ridgeway had suffered a pectoral injury.
"Hassan Ridgeway, he has a pec strain," Shanahan said. "Surgery is not needed, but he'll be out for a while, most likely six to eight weeks."
Defensive end Nick Bosa didn't emerge from his three-sack performance against the Dolphins unscathed. The NFL's 2022 sack leader appeared on Shanahan's injury list on Monday morning.
"Nick Bosa had some hamstring irritation, and we'll manage him throughout the week," the coach said, not sounding too concerned.
Defensive back Tarvarius Moore suffered a knee sprain and will miss "a few weeks."
