It’s hardly newsworthy when an un-drafted quarterback who floated from college to college and wasn’t even a starter on his high school team gets an invite to a NFL minicamp. Shocking, perhaps, but not newsworthy. Where the story takes a twist and becomes a headline on the internet and local newspapers is when that quarterback is the son of an NFL Legend who led the local team to four Super Bowl Championships. Nate Montana, 6-4, 215, has made such headlines this past weekend with the announcement that the San Francisco 49ers have extended an offer to the eldest Montana child to attend their rookie minicamp. While his father, Joe, was a third-round selection and eventually played 13 seasons in the NFL, 11 with the 49ers, Nate will try to earn a contract by impressing the 49ers and competing for a spot in their crowded competition for the backup quarterback position. “Coming back here where my dad played, you’ve just got to put your head down and make your own name,” he told The Sacram...
