The Lions are once again being accused of being cheap on the field. After last night’s game between the Lions and 49ers, San Francisco lineman and Central Michigan alum Joe Staley didn’t pull any punches when expressing his feelings on the Lions; “I think it was key for our front offensive line to handle it tonight because they like to be cheap after the play and they think that makes them physical,” Staley said, via Bill Emkow of MLive.com. Other players also voiced their displeasures with the Lions including Vernon Davis who got poked in the eye by Lions defensive end Cliff Avril. “I got poked in my eyes,” 49ers tight end Vernon Davis said. “Since I got poked I had to sit down. I do not know if it was intentional by Lions defensive end Cliff] Avril. I am just not sure.” 49ers QB Alex Smith also claimed to get a forearm across the face in which he was surprised didn’t draw a penalty. “I wouldn’t say dazed, just bleeding,” Smith said. “I looked up, saw the flag and thought for sure i

MARK MY WORDS 49ers Will Release RANDY MOSS

Fan Post: The 49ers will release Randy Moss sometime this year. It may happen sooner. It may happen later. But it will happen. Why? Because for reasons that mystify me, he’s on the field for fewer than 25% of their plays. And when he IS on the field he’s little more than a decoy for Manningham, Davis or Crabtree—EVEN WHEN HE’S IN SINGLE COVERAGE!!! Which begs the twofold...

Harbaugh finds new ways to motivate unbeaten 49ers

Jim Harbaugh considers Muhammad Ali the most competitive athlete of all time - in anything. Harbaugh got so giddy hearing his father's stories of recently spending a Ravens practice alongside Ali in Baltimore, San Francisco's coach shared it all with his players at the first possible chance. That was last Tuesday. Five days later, the 49ers (2-0) dominated the Detroit Lions...

Video: Guy in hoodie videobombs 49ers quarterback Alex Smith

The San Francisco 49ers beat the visiting Detroit Lions by a score of 27-19 Sunday night. San Francisco QB Alex Smith had a real nice performance as evidenced by his 226-yard, two touchdown stat line. His post-game interview, on the other hand, didn't look quite as nice. That's because of the super creepy guy standing behind Smith during most of it. The man, who appeared...

Jim Harbaugh says the Lions like to hit late

Before tonight’s game between the San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions, NBC’s Michelle Tafoya spoke with 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh and he told her that he told his players to keep their heads on a swivel during tonight’s game, since the Lions are a “chippy bunch” and a “late hit bunch.” The Lions do love to hit late, no one will ever forget Ndamukong Suh’s ...

Detroit Lions vs. San Francisco 49ers: Hero and Zero of the Game

Before the opening kickoff Sunday night at Candlestick Park, head coaches Jim Harbaugh and Jim Schwartz met on the gridiron for first time since 49ers' (2-0) 25-19 comeback win in Motor City over the Lions' (1-1) week six last season. There was no cheek-kiss, no high-five, not even a fist-bump between the two. That was the plan. It was a cordial, light-hearted handshake...

49ers shake off Lions -- with no handshake controversy

SAN FRANCISCO -- One season later, there was far less drama but the same result when the San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions met in a rematch Sunday night at Candlestick Park. Quarterback Alex Smith threw for 226 yards and two touchdowns, both to tight end Vernon Davis, leading the 49ers to a 27-19 victory. When the 49ers faced Detroit last year in Week 6, they had to come...

Jim Harbaugh-Jim Schwartz handshake 2012 (Video)

As you probably remember, during last seasons 49ers-Lions game, Jim Harbaugh was extra excited following his teams win and gave Schwartz a hard slap to the back. There wasn’t much to this years handshake, as the two men simply shook each others hands and went their separate ways.

49ers Alex Smith Gets Smacked On The Nose But Still Beat The Detroit Lions

If you saw Alex Smith in his post game interview you would have seen the blood flowing down the front of his nose, Smith didn’t let a sore nose stop him from finding a way to beat the Detroit Lions to move his 49ers to 2-0. Smith showed he is one tough competitor.  Smith finished the game going 20 of 31 for 226 yards and 2 touchdowns. He found a way to get his team down the field...

Suh buys fellow defensive linemen recliners

Soon after Ndamukong Suh became a Detroit Lion, there arrived a giant scarlet (University of Nebraska) red recliner in the defensive meeting room.  That was three years ago.  Before last week, Suh was still the only defensive lineman in the Lions locker room that could sit back and relax in a big comfy chair. The Lions other D-linemen were stuck with “stiff office chairs” in...

LoLo Jones to Ndamukong Suh: Lets just be friends

"Lets just be friends." Are there any four words men least want to hear from a hot prospect? Olympian hurdler and virgin princess Lori "LoLo" Jones denied reports by gossip sites that paired her with Detroit Lions DT Ndamukong Suh. "We are not currently dating," Jones said in a Playbook interview. Um, currently? Elite athletes travel fly...
