NFL Injury Report:
The San Francisco 49ers can rest easy knowing Michael Crabtree will be available and clear of any charges when the team takes on the Baltimore Ravens in the Super Bowl. Crabtree was part of an investigation into sexual assault allegations, but he will not be charged.
According to an Associated Press report, Crabtree will not face any charges. He was cooperative with the police's investigation into the allegations of sexual assault. Crabtree was at the hotel where the alleged incident took place, but he was not involved.
The rest of the world is still focused on the Harbaugh brothers coaching against each other in this year's Super Bowl, but Crabtree's investigation could have been big news. Crabtree gives Colin Kaepernick another option down the field. If he was not available, the 49ers would have seen their offense severely limited.
Crabtree is in his fourth NFL season. In that time, Crabtree has averaged 12.9 yards per reception. He has 21 touchdowns in his career including the nine he scored this past season.

The San Francisco 49ers' former starting quarterback Alex Smith is expected to seek his release before free agency, according to Pro Football Talk.
Smith, who lost the starting job to Colin Kaepernick in Week 10, would prefer to be released so he can garner the full benefits of free agency, the report says.
The 49ers aren't likely to release Smith because of his value in...
The top five San Francisco 49ers all time goes down the list of the greatest players in 49ers history. A list containing Jerry Rice, Steve Young and Joe Montana is enough to know it’s legit. Some of the positions you will agree with and others might leave you shaking your head, but remember, there can only be five players in a top five. Some Hall of Fame players will be left out...
According to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com via Evan Silva, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Randy Moss is expected to play one more season.
“I’m told that Moss expects to play at least one more season,” said Florio.
49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh has already said that he wants Moss to come back next season, but let’s be honest, Moss didn’t make much of an impact this...
Unless Alex Smith has to relieve Colin Kaepernick in Super Bowl XLVII this Sunday, the former No. 1 overall pick has likely played his last game with the 49ers.
Now, San Francisco has to pick between trading Smith and his $8.5 million contract, or releasing him. The quarterback would prefer the latter.
Smith will ask for his release before the start of free agency, March 12, according...
Alex Smith's days as the San Francisco 49ers' starting quarterback are over. His time on the team's roster might be ending soon, too. ProFootballTalk.com reported early Monday that Smith will seek his release from the 49ers prior to the start of free agency. Smith, 28, is under contract for next season at $8.5 million, $1 million fully guaranteed, with the rest...
Word is out that 49ers quarterback Alex Smith is asking for his release from the team. The news comes from Mike Florio of Profootballtalk.com. The news comes as no surprise, and I wouldn't be surprised to see the 49ers grant his request.I wrote last week about how the Chiefs should go after Smith. But if Smith opts for free agency, that could open up things a bit. You'll...
Ray Lewis will be doing his final dance next Sunday at the Super Bowl in New Orleans. But there are some places I don’t think he should be visiting.

In a weekly football tradition, ESPN’s Chris Berman will do his Two-Minute Drill the Friday before the Super Bowl. Sadly, the world stopped for Berman at around 1983. He still thinks it is 1983 when John Elway was a promising young talent at Stanford, the Kansas City Royals were good, people knew who Howard Cosell was, and The Eagles were still a semi-modern band.
San Francisco 49ers WR Randy Moss is believed to be wanting to play one more season in the NFL. He is scheduled to become a free agent after this season and his future with the Niners is in doubt. He was not the impact player that the Niners were hoping for this season, although he was not a distraction on or off the field for San Francisco this season. Could a reunion with the New...
According to Mike Reiss of ESPN.com, tosses out a hypothetical idea that would involve Randy Moss returning to the New England Patriots next season.
Reiss writes that “one could make the case that Moss’ vertical presence would be a better fit with the Patriots next season.“
Reiss made the case earlier for the Patriots revamping their receiving corp this offseason, so it’s...
