San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick usually has been doing all the undressing lately, but he took time to strip the Green Bay Packers defense down cold.
In what is sure to be bulletin board material and ammo for some bad blood, the QB took it to the Packers defense saying the unit ‘turned on each other’ in last year’s divisional playoff game.
He rushed 16 times for 181 yards and no quarterback had run for that many yards in a game in the history of the NFL.
“It got to a point,” Kaepernick said, via Peter King of SI.com.
“Where we could hear [the Packers’ defenders] arguing while we were in our huddle. ‘You’re supposed to do this,’ or ‘You have to do this, then the other.’ At that point, our offense was like, It’s over. As soon as you start turning on your teammates, you’re not going to be productive. You know you have them in the palm of your hands.”
The Packers have done a lot of work on the read option by studying it from college coaches to first round pick Datone Jones, an athletic DE that has the speed to run down a QB like Kaepernick.
