49ers retain defensive line reclamation project
Stan Szeto-USA TODAY Sports

The San Francisco 49ers continued their planning for 2024 on Wednesday, signing four more free agents.

San Francisco signed defensive linemen Alex Barrett, Austin Bryant and T.Y. McGill, along with offensive lineman Corey Luciano.

Barrett and McGill were both elevated from the practice squad for Super Bowl 58 but did not play in the overtime loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Edge rusher Bryant was signed last offseason as another reclamation project for defensive line coach Kris Kocurek. He was released in November but re-joined the 49ers' practice squad in January after a spell with the Minnesota Vikings.

Bryant had 4.5 sacks in 2021 with the Detroit Lions but has struggled to stay on the field in his career. He did not have a sack in two games for the 49ers in 2023.

McGill played in two games for the 49ers in 2023, filling the void down the stretch as San Francisco dealt with injuries on the interior defensive line.

The 49ers had previously announced the signings of nine free agents following their heartbreaking Super Bowl loss.
