49ers won't play on Christmas Day in 2024
Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The San Francisco 49ers escaped having to play a game on Christmas Day for the second consecutive season. According to Jordan Schultz, the two matchups on December 25 will showcase the Kansas City Chiefs against the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens against the Houston Texans.

Both games will be exclusively broadcast on Netflix.

Last season, the 49ers hosted the Ravens at Levi's Stadium on Christmas night in a much-anticipated game that ended in a 33-19 home-team loss.

Reportedly, the 49ers are set to face the Detroit Lions in a Week 17 matchup on Sunday, December 30. A Christmas Day game on the schedule would have given the team only five days to prepare for its next opponent, which is less than ideal but preferable to Thursday night games following Sunday matchups.
